Like you I am not even close to @Drago but I do limited weights 4/5 days a week. I try to stretch 20 minutes every morning on top of this. I've been with my PT, a personal friend, for 18 months. The benefits for an older man are significant. Like you so far I've avoided the awful slack, saggy skin.

I have a friend who is a keen walker (as much as @Mo1959 !) gets out whatever the weather and has chunky calves, almost like a high-mileage cyclist.

He disses resistance training as a waste of time but... in his 60's he is starting to look very 'light' up top for a guy.

Once muscle mass declines and you stop being able to do things then you are not too far away from being chair-bound.

I also do lots of stretching exercise and am very flexible for my age (GP's words) and can easily nail those older person's signs of ageing YT clips.

All I want now, is a decent lifespan to go with my fairly decent level of fitness. 🤞

I think Sky will be showing it?

Apparently not. It's not scheduled to be shown live, soz.

Aye, when you're so imfirm you can't get off the cropper you won't be wishing you'd done more cardio.

I've managed to lose 4lbs this week and am now down to 190lbs. Just another 7lbs to go until I hit my fighting weight.

Good stuff.

I put some weight on a few years back - apathy for exercise and stupid comfort eating following illness and subsequent op's.

I simply killed most carb's - cereals, spuds, bread, rice, choc (except 85% dark), biccies etc and the weight just fell off.

Apart from the odd 'treat' I don't touch, or indeed miss, any of that crap.

I love your vernacular.

It is true though, what you say.

I have read, from a number of sources, that in older age once you become chair-bound, or start falling over, both for no apparent reason, then you are in real trouble.

And the biggest, non-illness related, cause of the above is the inability of the body to support itself and/or facilitate a reasonable range of movement of limbs, etc.

Just been listening to the song : " Working men" by a Canadian choir of miners. What a beautiful song. It goes straight to your heart and fills you with deep emotions. Very meaningful and emotional lyrics that distills a lot of respect for those men who did so much for their country before being put on the scrap heap when the mines were closed down.
