Good morning. I can see daylight through the curtains. Grandsons 15th birthday today and we will be going out for a meal mid afternoon, then probably find a pub so he can watch the Bournemouth game ⚽️
Mrs Tkk stops going to the gym for the next few weeks as the annual New Year resolutionists will be flooding the place. This usually abates by mid February and things get back to normal. My resolution will be to spend more time on the bike, there's going to be a new addition to the stable sometime soon, Mrs Tkk is going to test ride a couple of bikes and see which best suits.

I like that 'resolutionists' term.

On a similar note I am definitely going to join the CC 50km or 50 mile each month challenge for 2025.

This did work for me some years ago. 🤞

I've been upping the weights and isometrics this last month or so. This is fine, but im now at 270 again, and while I feel strong I also feel heavy and lumbering. Time to back it off again a little.

Why am I so addicted to resistance exercise? Why does the feel of tight sleeves round my biceps turn me on? I'm beginning to think it's a psychological flaw.

It always sounds patronising to say that when I am talking to someone who knows the basics and is generally easily able to fix things themselves

but sometimes it works even with experienced people

I have had people who claim that their computer only works if I visit it once a week because it misses me
one person insisted that I stand in front of her while she typed up a Special Needs report that was urgent - just so her computer wouldn't miss me!!!!

Oh I know. The amount of electrical stuff which can be "fixed" by switching off, unplug, wait 30 seconds and restart is astonishing.

I am nowhere near where you are re resistance training but have kept at it for two to three sessions each week for over three years now.

Mainly because I researched muscle mass loss in males as they age. As, I am sure you are aware, it is frightening.

Same applies to the ladies too.

My efforts seem to have paid off as I have managed to avoid that scrawny, floppy muscle look that afflicts older guys.

As far as indoor exercising goes, of my three regular-use equipment sessions the multi-gym is by far my favourite ahead of the treadmill (second) and tail-end Charlie my turbo-trainer.

Bonjour. Nice weather today although it is only 8 degrees, it doesn't feel cold.
I was going to go for a ride this morning but I can't really be bothered and I have a sore throat anyway so that's my excuse.
Instead, I will vacuum the car inside as it needs it after our trip. The outside will be done during the week as we are invited for lunch at 2 pm at or son's, where Lucie may be waiting for us. We haven't made a decision yet. I am hoping our grand daughter will keep her as they have lost one of Lucie's brother yesterday. They had to put him to sleep because he had a reaction to his injections and the vet couldn't do anything for him. Very sad.

Like you I am not even close to @Drago but I do limited weights 4/5 days a week. I try to stretch 20 minutes every morning on top of this. I've been with my PT, a personal friend, for 18 months. The benefits for an older man are significant. Like you so far I've avoided the awful slack, saggy skin.

Back home now. Although I have enjoyed our stay in North Devon , it is always nice to be at home.
Now , we have a dilemma. Our grand daughter has had a litter of labrador puppies. They are now 8 weeks old and she has one left .
Her name is Lucie and she is beautiful. Mrs G and I are very tempted to have her but I am a bit concerned how Molly will react to a new companion.
We are seeing her again tomorrow and will have to make a decision. What to do ??

Now food! I have been to the dark place, crossed a line I seldom venture over. I was short of time and visiting another outlet next door. Yes, I went in to Waitrose. It is a different world. A dozen eggs, two loaves, an iceberg, red pepper and bunch of bananas. £14!!!! £14. The assistant couldn't scan the pepper. What a palaver. At those prices Waitrose could afford to give me the pepper.

However, Waitrose stock Findlater's pates. We discovered these at Booths as a special Christmas item. WOW! Just WOW! The meat are especially good and the fish and vegetarian offerings are very good. From Linlithgow.

Flapjack made. While cruising around the fridge I found a lot of "bits" which need using up. Bacon, mushrooms, sausage, peppers, chorizo. The basis of Paul's version of Cassoulet. I now have eight portions ready for the freezer. And all from some bits. Excellent.
