There is something exciting to do. I have to unravel the mysteries of electronic gearing and the app. On yesterday's ride the shifting was wonderful. I have to admit I now wonder why I've been so resistant to it for so long.

On the other hand the LBS told me to connect the app. So, this was last night:
  1. Download app
  2. Register user. Success
  3. Register bike. Can't be that difficult.
  4. Hmmmmmm.........
  5. Choose "Help"
  6. First instruction "Ensure Bluetooth LE is enabled on phone"
  7. Google Bluetooth LE
  8. I don't have Bluetooth LE
  9. Help says "press button on rear derailleur"
  10. Hmmmmm........
  11. Find torch
  12. Kneel/Lay on floor
  13. Scrutinise said derailleur
  14. Run fingers over derailleur surface searching for anything pressable
  15. Fail
  16. Start again
  17. Fail
  18. Curse. Hard. Long
  19. Decide not to start a CC thread for fear of ridicule
  20. Decide to ring LBS in morning
  21. Go to bed holding the opinion the Shimano app and hardware is on a par with Garmin for crappiness *
*I know, I know. There a tens of thousands of happy Garmin users. One of my best cycling buddies is one. Just my experience was poor, very poor, extremely poor. Sorry. I'll bugger off for a bit.

Morning all :hello:

Yay! Fish Friday. :hungry::cheers:
Off to Wetherspoons later, dropping in to Dunster on the way for MrsD to pick up some Christmas presents for our friends.
Parts arrived for the MTB yesterday and I've now got the crank, pedals and new seat post fitted. Just waiting on a new chain and then they can have the bike back.

Barnet,
Good morning, Mrs Tkk made the coffee this morning, apparently I had " hogged the duvet " and she had woken feeling cold😮
Off to London with a big shopping bag filled with presents 🎁 shortly.

Are you off to that there London on the train?
Looks like another computer problem across the network, this time with communications.

Is it not easier just to flick a lever with your fingers?
You know I held that opinion for many, many years. I've seen other riders struggling on rides with failed electronic gearing. I was always going to be a manual guy.

Then I had the crash. Three broken fingers on right hand. Shifting is difficult on my manual Cervelo. The fingers ache and stiffen in the cold. My consultant was a cyclist, he advised I should seriously consider di2 as on longer rides my fingers would tire.

I shall resist till i drop dead :okay: My worse nightmare would be this scenario being tech averse and probably thick  Manufacturers must say how can we take something beautifully simple and make it fiendishly complicated for our profit. In days of yore when i bought a vehicle [car/motorcycle] it felt like it was mine, nowadays its like theyve sold the cow but are still milking it  Im happy in my luddite neaderthalism and will never be converted unless strapped down and lobotomised in which case i hope Randell P Mcmurphy puts a pillow over my head *
