Good day. We're promised sunshine, still and 6⁰. That will do, anything but damp and I'm happy. Looking out of the window suggests the forecast is correct.

Small person is coming today so I must crack on in a minute. Not much else on or to report.

My ficus is looking very, very poorly. Sticks rather than a plant. I'm going to cut it hard back, pop it in a draft free spot and wait to see what happens. I'm disappointed as I've lavished care and attention on this plant.

One very unpleasant task to attend to. After my ride yesterday I realised I had stood fairly and squarely on a dog turd. I dealt with the shoe last night. I was wearing overshoes and these now need attention. 🤢🤮🤢

somewhat of a rare occurence, but Mrs Tkk has just said that a furnishing / decorating suggestion that a made last year and was dimissed, is actually a good idea that we should proceed with. At least she didn't claim it as her own this time...😁

Good morning all, cool and cloudy here. No flood risk as such but we do sit downstream of two dams so if they were to give way we could be in trouble.

Changing subject, on Pointless yesterday there was a question about people who didn’t graduate. And it seems to me that, certainly in the cycling world, it is now the exception not to have a degree. In the two English clubs I rode with in the 80’s and 90’s hardly anyone had a degree. I’m sure the position would be reversed now. I don’t think this is a good thing.

From my observations, most of their degrees would be of very little use in real life.

A pleasant wander had and half way through my porridge now.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.

We knew someone in Brum who had a degree and ended up having his own market stall in the market in Brum.

My grandson with the food radar graduated from Uni this summer. He had to have a degree to be able to be a teacher. At the moment he is what they call an associate teacher. It's a 1 year course he has to do before he can be a full teacher. So in his case, it was worth it to be able to do what he wants as a career.

But so many degrees are totally useless.

Years ago the company/factory I worked for employed a guy my age who had 5
A levels and was literally brushing up.
He had the brain capacity to pass his exams but apparently couldn't apply it.
He seemed happy enough in his job though.

When I was a driving instructor. I taught many Degree educated people. They were very knowledgeable but absolutely useless for practicai things. Learning to drive a car didn't come naturally to them.

Well, this is good. For the first time in weeks #1SP wants to go swimming with Nana. This takes 2½ hours. She may come home nackered and need a nap.

Regardless Granddad now has an unexpected 2½ hours of doing whatever he fancies. First plan is coffee then I think I'll bob down to the LBS. I was told my new bike would be ready 10 days ago. It isn't. I feel the time has come to apply a little pressure to them.

I had a tricky conversation with #1SP while driving over from her house:

SP: "Granddad. What was your cat called?"
G: "Olaf"
SP: "Like in Elsa?" (you need to watch it)*
G: "Yes"
SP: "Where is he now?"
G: "Well, he died"
SP: "Why?"
G: "He was very, very old and he died"
SP: "But where is he now?"
G: "We buried him on the allotment"**
SP "I've never seen him on the 'lotment"
G: "That's because I buried him"
SP: "I want to see him. Can we go to the 'lotment and see him?"

The conversation continued........with Granddad wondering HTF do I get out of this one?????

*alright you don't need to see it. In fact you REALLY DON'T need to see Elsa. Olaf is a small, talking snowman. He also has his own spinoff movie.....these Disney people know how to make money!

** I explained this to Mrs P so she knew what to expect. Mrs P said "That's not true. You didn't bury him." I replied I didn't feel telling a four year old we left our pet cat at the vet's was appropriate. Explaining assisted dieing at the vet? Nah. I don't think so.
