I have a special machine that does our - it is called the central heating controller

haven't used the fire (it's electric anyway) for years!

But that's not really what's meant by lighting a fire. ^_^

Can't beat an open fire or muti-fuel stove for bringing a house to life, not to mention the sheer romanticism.

Over the years we have had many people visit our house and, if the (open) fire was used whilst they were here, they have been besotted with it. It really is a lovely thing.

It didn’t work out so well for me, I just had a nondescript dogsbody job in an office for 32 years, handed in my notice as soon as I was able to get my pension.
I was fairly lucky in my working life. After school, three years at college studying hotel management, then twenty years until I decided I'd had enough for various reasons. Temped for a few months, then got a job in the post room of a 'well known insurance company'. Later transferred to the warehousing dept. of said company and stayed there until a year before I retired, about 27 years total.
Final year with the local council recycling dept. and done; decided 51 years of 'gainful employ' was enough - ! :okay:

Barnet,
Good evening all.
A good ride, 20 miles in total to and from Edgware general hospital.
I saw the consultant today, rather than his registrar, and after an examination and a chat, his opinion is that my right knee is worn out.
So he has put me on the waiting list for a new knee. It could be a while though.
Once that is done he will have a look at my left one.
