Got caught in a snowstorm walking back with Bruce from dropping Mini D off at school. A real blizzard, driven by that northwesterly wind.

But I made it. Meanwhile the lazy sods are still driving half the distance in their cars, stubbornly refuting to switch on their dipped beams as the law requires in falling snow.

The standard of driving in this country is shocking now. Just an extension of the lack of courtesy and respect shown by many in daily life sadly.

Back from an almost 7 mile wander. The headtorch was required until 7.30. I wore my new Proviz insulated jacket. Really pleased with it. It was warm enough but not so much that I overheated on the climbs. Two ladies out for an early spin on their mountain bikes said it looked amazing when their lights hit it.

Porridge time now.

I have seen those and think they are excellent. One chap was getting off the train with his bike and I thought it looked quite stylish, the other occasion was a chap cycling and a car headlights lit the jacket up outstandingly well. I'm a " medium " by the way Mo, so if you get fed up with it...

Badly overcooked eggs.
Yes, very much so. Their other place is brilliant so this is a real shame. Only me and one other person here. I wonder why?

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
Bonjour. Anyone has the central heating on yet? Not winter for another month you know.
Still in bed but my phone says 7 degrees outside.

I don't have cental heating  I do have a wood burner though. I have been using it on and off. Not so much during the day but at around 4pm I start it. The last few days though I have had it going all day. Its warm here now so I will let the fire die down and maybe start it again later on this afternoon

Cooooeeeee 3 deg abd raining here. We had a bit of snow last night, then it warmed up a bit and now it's raining.

I've started a lamb casserole in the slow cooker, so I wonder if grandson will show up again just in time to eat more than his fair share before he trots off again.

Stay safe peeps :hello:

I presume that he has an inbuilt "lamb caserole" detector

My friend used to have one for my Mum's chocolate cake
whenever she made a chocolate cake he turned up

Once we thought he was on a Navy Frigate in the South Atlantic (post Falklands but he was there then as well) and he turned up just as the cake was ready
Apparently his ship had come home early to test some new missiles that she had installed but he hadn't told anyone

Young Men do sometimes seem to have amazing radar for food!!!

He just has a radar for food of any kind. As you say, young men seem to have a propensity for it where food is concerned.

Phew. That's my big word for the day Propensity

I have had the CH on for weeks now and while I can afford to I will stay comfy.

With you 100% on this.

There was a poster in another thread that says his house was 14°C and it was comfy! I cannot comprehend that at all.

Same with people religiously sticking to a date to turn the heating on and off each year. Does not compute. If it is cold it is cold even if the date requirement has not been met.

Yes, we can easily afford our fuel bills but we always said that when we reach old age we will be well fed, well 'watered and warm. And if we weren't we would rather give up.

We have a friend who is not too badly off but lives in a *loody cold house with little heating on to save money. 5 bed detached for 2 people, 1 'swanky'car, 1 'normal' car, golf mad, numerous holidays inc' 2 weeks in Dubai each year (essential apparently). Each to their own but strange priorities imo.

Bit of a rant, sorry!

Enjoy the rest of your day, all.
