Can you not just use your Garmin to measure it?

The Garmin GPS isn't really accurate enough even with all systems switched on. There’s a stretch of ground adjacent to a local sub station that has a goodish Tarmac surface. My Garmin estimates about 160 metres. I will use the wheel to measure and then mark every 10 metres up to 100 metres.
One of the better explanations of GPS accuracy I read was to liken it to taking a lively dog for a walk on a 5 metre lead, while you progress along your walking route the dog is constantly running hither and thither with you as the centre point. The GPS in a Garmin takes samples every second, and the dog could be a next to you when the sample is taken, or up to 5 metres away.

Morning all . Well that was a bit of a surprise , SNOW. LOL. JUST .
There is definitely snow on the grassy areas but all the roads and footpaths are still clear so there is no disruption at all, in this area. Mrs exlaser has made it to work in kineton which is about 15 miles away, with out any problems .Being in the very centre of the country means we vary rarely have any proper snow. It’s never been bad enough to stop me getting to work , though it was so bad once Peugeot sent as all home . Now that was a scary drive home , I would have been safer on my bike.
It’s was good news for me as I had a lie in as my volunteering at Ufton was cancelled. I would have been fine as I have all the kit to keep the heat in and the snow/wet out but a lot of the other volunteers don’t.
Oh well I will just have to go to a different group later in the week
Stay warm everyone .

Just looked out the window again and it started sleeting again .
