Nowadays as far as i can see quite short in distance and time. Our CTC club runs were full day Sandwiches for lunch at a CTC appointed place We purchased a large pot of tea and perhaps slice of cake Tea time another CTC appointed place tea consisted of various dishes.

The runs we’re always to a specific venue Matlock Buxton Trentham Gardens we’re some of the venues. More local in the winter but all day rides. There we’re also events like reliability rides Tourist competitions the later being a national competition. District association train trips to other areas

I realise that time’s have changed and have family commitments.we had two married couples and two others who got married to cyclists
Yes, times do change. I used to ride with Ribble Valley RC. A great club, good members, ethos and routes. I stayed for a year but had to leave because the rides simply took too long. 9.00am meet, 11.00 coffee, 1.00 lunch, 3.00 tea. There were several couples in the group I rode with and it was there day out.

With a wife at home and three youngish sons it wasn't sustainable. I know the majority of my current club's members organise their riding around family life.

I have to say nothing would make me live in America for any amount of money. I may be slightly biased.

I think you might be ^_^

I told the kids I did not want to see anyone on Christmas Day, and I did not intend to decorate this year either. I have never been a fan of Christmas going right back to childhood, I used to do them and join in for Pam's sake, but this one is going to be got through as fast as possible.

I just pretend it is just a normal day and am always glad when it’s over again.

Just been watching some old NCIS.

It’s down to 3 degrees here already and a starry sky.

we go trolling around my wife's relatives and end up at her son's house to lob some presents at the grand kids

then go home and I cook dinner and watch the telly while demolishing several bottles of wine

WHen I was alone I did the same but went for a LONG walk instead of visiting people and - to be honest - liked it better
(except for the kids bit - but even then only for a short time

while thing brings back memories I would rather ignore
