A former colleague , a Cypriot who lives back there now explained to me once...as wonderful as we think Cyprus is, it can often be so incredibly hot there in the summer it's virtually unbearable.
Heard the same about Australia.

You do wonder sometimes...where is perfect?

At on time we thought of moving to the south of France (we had lots of holidays there so knew it quite well) but between mid June and end of August it is just too hot.

I have managed a trip to Aldi. Pleased as my legs are bad today. Got a pack of their special sausages, pork and bramley apple...... they really are very yummy.
Also got a couple of bottles of Shiraz with 50% discount. And some Roquefort cheese to go with it ^_^

Fingers crossed for her.

Good news is that she passed the theory with 49/50.
So I am paying for a block booking of lessons for her as I believe that is what granddads are for  .

As mentioned before I went to a meeting of people I went to school with

The bloke arranging it had dug out the programme from the school play

which was in about 1972!!!!!

He read out a list of people that were in the play - which included me

no idea what my character's name was - but ever since then lines from my role keep coming to mind

so since 1972 they have been living rent free in my head using up space that would have been more useful storing information for "A" Level Maths
or better still for use in my 3rd Year Chemistry exams at University!!!

for those that are interested I was "a self made man and came up from nothin' I did - I say - came up from nothin' I did"

all said in a country yokel accent and I never did have a clue why I decided to say it like that for the audition!!!!

anyway - I wonder what other decades old useless data is still stored up there

on a more useful note Jane Robson got mentioned - no idea of the conversation for a wile after that as some memories from the top of a staircase at a party came to mind

Anyway - another meet up os planned for next year !!

Ended up in Kendal town centre today - not planned and a bit pricey:

Mrs SD; new winter coat £140, me; new & more modern wedding ring £240, me; snazzy new glasses from Specsavers £180 and £7 for a couple of coffees. Can't take it with you.

Total spend in my favour, although Mrs SD spotted some nice winter boots...:rolleyes:

Town centre was nice and calm after the tourist season, sun was out(ish) and with no wind it was very pleasant sitting outside drinking coffee and people watching.

Reminds me of my A Level maths - which was pure + applied. The applied element was statistics.

Sort of enjoyed it, top marks, but tbh I had run out of maths headroom and a maths degree would have resulted in a low grade result I am sure.

Much preferred my physics and business studies A levels, especially the latter.

We have a friend in California who hails from Pontefract. She often complains about the hear.
