And here too
I've been shopping

I wandered round to the Co-op for a few things too. An elderly lady I know was there and looking decidedly pasty and said she wasn’t feeling great. She wouldn’t accept a lift from another lady or let me go home and get the car so I walked with her to the bus stop where she gets the little town bus and she says it drops her right at her door so hope she’s ok.

Sorry to be causing confusion, I use a video call on Facebook messaging, it is nice to see into people eye's when you are talking to them, oddly enough though it is often easier to talk on a non video call as you are just concentrating on the voice. I have the video set up on my computor and my non Apple phone, and my Kindle.

One of the advantages is immediate flexibility to change priorities.
Girls to school this morning, home, tidied the house, changed our bedding, laundered and already on the line making use of some really bright sun...hit a call from our eldest grandson, great grandson (a toddler) has pulled out a hose off their fish tank and flooded some very new carpets...mini disaster.
Off in the car, pick up our sons Vax and drive 12 miles to help them clear up.
It was bad enough but not a disaster. Home, 2 eggs on toast and a cuppa really hit the the spot, wonderful yolks.
And on with the day....now, what was I doing ?

The one rule we had at Loughborough

Sunday club rides always had a different leader who set the pace usually to that of the slowest rider. You never passed the leader unless he or she gave permission.

This wasn’t as restricting as it sounds Going up hill for instance when the group tended to break up.and regrouped at the top of the hill.
As per my previous post we always tried to accommodate those new members who were perhaps not yet able to manage past or distance.Average speeds were usually about 10 to 12 mph

It can’t have been that bad as we had members of the local road club join our rides.and a couple of times a year have a joint club run

We had one leader who would get very unhappy with anyone who passed him except for climbs. On a hill it was always at your own pace and regroup at the top. Very few of our rides have a leader these days. If I'm on a ride, and on the front doing a turn, not leading, and people have fired off the front if the route demands we turn left or right we do. Those who choose to ride off have to sort themselves out. I would never drop or abandon a rider but if someone chooses to ride off the front and he/she misses the turn or doesn't have the route then it's their problem. We used to chase them down, I don't anymore, people soon learn.

Nowadays as far as i can see quite short in distance and time. Our CTC club runs were full day Sandwiches for lunch at a CTC appointed place We purchased a large pot of tea and perhaps slice of cake Tea time another CTC appointed place tea consisted of various dishes.

The runs we’re always to a specific venue Matlock Buxton Trentham Gardens we’re some of the venues. More local in the winter but all day rides. There we’re also events like reliability rides Tourist competitions the later being a national competition. District association train trips to other areas

I realise that time’s have changed and have family commitments.we had two married couples and two others who got married to cyclists

Invigilating is starting again so off to school I went for morning and again for the rest of the week except Wednesday. Nice to have a bit of extra money coming in next month.
Waiting for Amazon to deliver the new soup maker now and son in law to measure up for new carpets. He has his own shop so we have family deals.

Barnet,
Another productive day.
3 loads of washing done and dried on the line.
We have been around the fields twice with Millie.
A letter and tax relief form sent off to the taxman.
And then, I've cut the grass, not short because it was still a bit wet, but I've knocked the top off it and levelled it.
It is still growing albeit a bit straggerly.
Also a lot of ivy cut down off of the last couple of fence panels so I can paint them tomorrow.
Tomorrows plans are already taking shape.😁

I have just been speaking to my friend in Florida, they are off to spend the day on the beach, I sometimes ask myself why I live here with six months of cold weather followed by six months of rain, or so it seems.

A former colleague , a Cypriot who lives back there now explained to me once...as wonderful as we think Cyprus is, it can often be so incredibly hot there in the summer it's virtually unbearable.
Heard the same about Australia.

You do wonder sometimes...where is perfect?

A few years back MrsP and myself were in Crete on holiday. After walking for a while we stopped at a taverna for refreshments.
The owner came up to take our order, and when he spoke it was obvious he hadn't been brought up on the island.
We got talking and he had inherited the taverna from his parents, but he lived and worked in london since child hood.
He missed the weather differences in England, he got bored with endless heat and sunshine on the Greek island.
I think sometimes you can have too much of a good thing.
