SO I have finally got round to trying to clean the top bits of the air fryer

WHY OH WHY OH WHY to they make the elements impossible to remove????
I mean -on the previous one I did manage to loosen it and jiggle to out a little bit by streching the cables a bit so I could remove and scrub the fan and the area underneath
but that one "mysteriously" stopped working
so I am a bit reluctant to do the same on this one

back in the good old days - when dinosaurs were happily wandering past the windows -an element was connected by a push fitting and help in place by a single screw
nowadays the damn thing is not intended to be moved - almost as if they just don;t think you might just need to clean the thing properly
(and I do know some people who don;t even clean the basket (Yuk) so I can see the point!)

anyway - at least I must be feeling better as yesterday I hardly even had the energy to make a cuppa!

Im probably talking twaddle (according to SWMBO, I do that a lot) but how bad an idea would it be to steam the grease off by adding a pint of washing up liquidy water and run it on 200c for a while? 🤔

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
I have a Ninja and the elements are concealed so I only see the drawers with their removable base/tray. If doing eg fish, sausages or bacon I do them on tin foil which I then bin.
It still gets yucky so, just yesterday I bought a spray bottle of HG Oven, Grill and BBQ cleaner. Not tried it yet so I will report back.

HG products are brilliant. I bought the grease remover and I have to say I love it. It works really well. I highly recommend it.

He must be. I meet a few Cocker Spaniels around here, and apart from the elderly ones they are all hyper active.

Meter done so first test will be to check the heating comes on at 1.30pm for 3 hours. The IHD display seems to be working ok already. I’ve got hardly anything electrical on just now and have only used 2 pence since it was fitted. I think it might get a bit obsessive checking it so it may well end up in a drawer after the initial novelty wears off.

My thoughts exactly. All the cockers I've seen are hyper and totally made. There isn't an off button. This one can't seem to stay awake.

That's what ruins air fryer for me, the fact that you can't clean the inside top of them.

I have found a way of doing it!!

basically I am using the Screwfix Heavy Duty degreaser that I bought for cleaning the bike chain and gears
I though it was just like washing up liquid - but it cut right through the baked on fat at the top of the air fryer cabinets easily given a bit of time

did still need some way of getting to some bits - if I find the bloke (almost certainly not a woman!!) who decided that the element couldn;t be a couple of mm narrower - and was best slightly off centre - then I am likely to stuff him into the thing and bake him gently for 10 minutes!!!

anyway - got round it by getting an old toothbrush (again saved to the bike!!!) and gently heating it with my wife's candle lighter (don't tell her!) until it bent easily and putting a right angle bend in it so it gets into most of the worst bits

You lot aren’t encouraging me to get an air fryer. Thankfully, I don’t particularly like fried food anyway.

Mo, the food is not fried, quite the opposite. As an eg I put 3 fish fingers in, no oil, 10 minutes and they are nicely done (I turn them over part way through).
Same with sausages but I am careful with them and do them for 15 minutes,. Again, no oil.
Frozen chips, 12 minutes, no oil.

Good nearly lunchtime. #2 small person is here. I have been on the go since 6.00. Her battery shows no sign of needing a recharge. 😱

Well! I've read through today's pages. So very many good chances for witty double entendres. I've acted with great restraint.

@Drago good luck today.

@SpokeyDokey thanks for heads up. Great series 1.

It is (one of) my weaknesses, I cannot resist ;)
