I am sitting here wondering where to go on holiday, but neither of my two numbers came out again.

This is mainly why I haven’t had one in over 20 years. I could never bring myself to put any of my dogs or cats in kennels or cattery. Last holiday I had was when mum was still alive around 27 years ago. We must just have had a dog at that time so she came with us in a holiday cottage. I occasionally ponder getting a little campervan and training Molly to get used to it and we could get away for breaks.

A good night's sleep in our own bed after a week away. The decorator did an excellent job and we've booked him to come back in the new year to do the lounge and extension. Now I have a week to sort out the creaking floorboards before the carpet fitter arrives. New month, new diet🤔. In other news I have been invited to take part in a clinical trial of an anti Norovirus drug.

Saw a video of Cunard's Queen Mary 2 on 8 day trip to USA from UK and people brought their dogs ! owners were allowed to visit dogs and walk them on a deck , don't know about cats though !

How will you stop floorboards creaking ?

My Grand-Dad showed me how to do that when I was little

You take up the carpets and knock nails into the floorboards where it creaks until it is all solid

Then you go home and the people who live there call a plumber to fix the holes in the water pipes where you have put nails through them!

After I lifted the carpet I couls see all the old floorboards with the cuts where the central heating was installed. The people who had installed the central heating had written the locations of cables and water / gas pipes in pencil on the boards. I went over the old marks with chalk and took photo's. I was able to lift a couple of part boards and double check. I propose to go along the line of original nails with a Nail Punch and add a floorboard screw adjacent to it in the line of the joists.

That's it. Mr WD has wandered off somewhere so I took the opportunity to paint the last part of the ceiling. I might have to give it another coat but we will see. I blooming hope not.
