I think it's classed as "I've tried but it's not working so what the hell!" syndrome. I think I'm a carrier.

Although it was said in jest, for me, it's partially accurate. I keep trying to lose some weight but when I do weigh myself, I've often stayed the same at best and at times weight more than previously. I think you do get dejected and think why am I bothering cutting down when it makes no difference so you have a couple of days of eating what you like. I do try not to scoff after 7.00PM but when I'm sat on my laptop at night, I get the munchies. I also think that boredom has something to do with it. When I'm busy, I don't think about eating (certainly not snacking), it's when I tend to be doing "nothing".

I have a very sweet tooth and if I open a packet of biscuits i will usually munch several. One thing that does work for me is to satisfy the initial craving for something sweet with a Satsuma or a few grapes to take the edge off.

It's not uncommon for me to finish off the full packet in one go. I have started just taking a few out and putting the rest away otherwise I find it hard to stop.

The answer to that then is alway be doing something, nearly 3 stone down here this year.

I am wondering if we are seeing a slight pattern here; those who advocate retiring also like to be on their own or just with a partner. Maybe their work was spent with people that they did not enjoy the company of; not many of us are able to change that bit, I have been.

Not the case for the pair of us.

We are both very sociable and enjoyed the company of the members of various teams we worked within.

On the other hand we are very much at ease in our own company - we breezed through Covid incarceration. Unlike some couples.

Neither of us would like to be alone though.

Basically, we like to have other people around us but don't need them all the time.

Sweet tooth - me too!

However, the only sweet thing I have these days is 85% cocoa chocolate in tight moderation.

Biscuits, milk chocolate, jam, sweets, cake etc all turn me into a pig :mrpig: so I avoid them like the plague.

Ditto, anything potato based, rice or bread etc.

Being a bit carb' adverse keeps me within half a stone of my (second) marriage weight some 32 years ago.

Not being judgemental; there does seem to be a bit of a food obsession in this thread. ^_^ ^_^^_^

That is where we were until quite recently. I did say a slight pattern though.

Not for me, both myself and MrsP have a very active social life, no sitting alone on the interwebs wondering what's going on out ther.

As an aside, I think of you every time I see the tiny dent on the bonnet of our T.Cross.

No idea how it got there tbh. It appeared overnight!

Only notices in bright sun, so not much during our current run of weather!
