Why were there lots of old people on bikes on MY cycle path this morning???

something must be done!!

AND - they were going slower than me

OK OK OK - I know ebike and all that
but once I realised there were loads of small groups ahead of me I switched the motor off - it was only on the lowest assist setting anyway
AND I was STILL wanting to go faster than them!!



(yes - I am looking smug!
especially as most of them had dropped handlebar bikes and were wearing cycling clothes when I was wearing jeans and a jumper)

Just ended up riding most of the way back in "OFF" mode but the overall time on Strava was still lower than usual

I might look fat bald and old - but apparently at least my legs work OK!!!
(OK - TBF - legs work OK when pedalling on the flat - no hills involved)

Before you know it Paulsb will be in leggings and mo will be walking in her slippers.

Had a good day in my workshop and progressed well with the latest Bantam I'm doing. Got the engine installed and everything tightened up. Just got the new wiring harness to install and a couple of little bits and pieces to sort out and then I'll probably put it up for sale.

My bank card has failed. How do you get to speak to a human?
Been to the post office bank and both machines declined my debit card.
Tried the hole in the wall, declined again.
Phoned TSB.
The 1st part was simple eg tap in dob, tap in card number. Then the automated question.......which account do you have a problem with a,b or c. I don't have a problem with any of them but 5 times it gives me those choices.
I end up screaming down the phone "I WANT TO SPEAK TO A HUMAN".
Then another automated message saying " all staff are busy, high number of calls" blah blah blah.
7 minutes later, a human. 2 minutes for her to check my account hadn't been touched and to tell me the chip must be damaged..... I will have a new card by Friday.
Not too long ago I could walk into the branch at the top of the road.
Where will it all end ?

I know you know this but there is not a high volume of calls

There is a low volume of manglement willing to pay for staff to man the phones

I used to work on the computer systems of a call centre - I know how they work and a guaranteed answer in 10 seconds is perfectly achievable

Just saying - I'll get off my hobby horse now!!

Mine improved slightly, it depends on the individual, and the muscles that act to focus the eye.

My shortsightedness has improved by over a diopter over the last 10 years or so. But I now need reading glasses for small print

I have an appointment in a few weeks

main problem I seem to have is that my glasses are covered in scratches and they are starting to affect what I can see

I suspect that when I get new lenses then I will see a whole new world!!


also thinking at getting some different ones for cycling
not "proper cycling" glasses - because TBH I would look like a pratt
(OK OK - more of a pratt)

but something with a bit of wraparound to keep the worst of teh pollen out and mean that when a rock the size of a CyberTruck (other names are available) comes flying rigth at me then I am not worrying that my main glasses have been killed!!!
