The realisation you're getting old

Now I am feeling old. We only had one channel on our first tv in 1956. Eventually, my dad bought a set top box to receive it! Had to wait longer for bbc2 and ages for colour tv.

You had a TV in 1956? We didn't even have the shoe box to live in.

They were the days, three channels and you had to get up off the sofa to change over to BBC 2, my parents wouldn’t allow us to watch ITV as they thought it was far too common!

There's posh! The first few televisions I remember from childhood were rented from DER.

Edited to add that the chap in the image of the couple illustrating the 19" Standard Model 5742 is telling his companion that he's from the future, where they call this move "Netflix and chill".

My parents didn’t buy a TV until 1975 and that was a 13” Sony portable, two aerial sockets, one in the living room and one in the bedroom, the TV was taken from room to room.

I was 10 back in 1975, we wore some pretty dodgy clothes, however my father was more into double denim and suede desert boots, he was pretty cool back then.

ITV, with all those adverts... How VERY common... We almost exclusively watched the BBC. 😆

We would watch home and away but not neighbours too ranchy!!!

My Mum didn't want us to watch Home And Away after someone died in a car crash with their love there at the site, or something.

Ironic, seeing as we watched Casualty and 'Sick Kids' (a documentary series about a children hospital, which admittedly was on STV/ITV) to a band playing. The more gory the better!

So into Casualty were we, that we'd pretend to do operations on our teddies... They were defibrillated more times than a fat man running a marathon!
