LNER still operates a few class 91 train sets - it's not (quite) all 'azumas'. Here is 91 105 heading north at Stevenage tonight, at 10pm in the wonderful midsummer evening light.

Thursday 27th


I went through Castleford earlier, & the signal-box on Albion Street (or it might be named Castleford Gates?) had been demolished
It was still standing just over a week ago

It’s been closed for a lot of years, with a 2-storey ‘Porta-Cabin’ opposite

I saw 59003 idling at Swindon today, a rare loco indeed. It's spent some time in Germany.

GWR service passing through Stapleton Road station this morning en route to Temple Meads.

A coupe of units from today's walk.

Firstly 66559 heading for one of the Felixstowe terminals as it approaches the holding point on the passing loop just outside Trimley station

Then by the fright branch to the central and north terminals, this on its way presumably to help with the derailment on the sharp curve to the north terminal last week. Must try to remember to see if I can have a look at what's going on as it happened near a public footpath.
