The white cat is Leo, the existing encumbent.
The new arrival is not expected until late November. I have some jolidays to take before then.

Ah! You see I'm speed reading threads in an effort to catch up and assumed he was the new arrival but of course he's not a kitten so I should really have engaged my brain before I wrote that.

It's amazing how quickly they go from tiny and cute.

I am no longer expecting.:rolleyes:

The new arrival is doing well, and is comfortable in the dining room, with a bed, cardboard box, water, biscuits, and hiding places. She is mostly black with a white bib, and white splashes on her nose, with speckles of white on her shoulders, and white socks.B) Eyes like the proverbial saucers.

She is about two years old, and until recently was a stray with kittens in an Industrial Estate. Before that it is thought she was a domestic cat.
She is obviously nervous at the moment, and has yet to meet the present encumbent. He has chosen today to go on a very long walkabout, he will no doubt return at tea-time. Typical male, where is he on the rare occasion when he is needed?

Photo may follow when she is less nervous.

Top stuff. Hope she gets on OK with meeting incumbent cat!

Collecting the two cats I saw on Sunday from their CPL foster home tomorrow...

The encumbent cat returned once it got dark, and he wanted his tea.
Later I introduced them to each other. Tasha (tbc) was in her carry box, lent to me by the Cattery. Leo and Tasha touched noses, and then Leo decided that it would be much more interesting to eat Tasha's biscuits.

Later they met again in the lounge which resulted in a hiss from Leo.
They have shown (touch wood) no aggression towards each other. Probably because she is so young and so much smaller that him. She seems shy rather than worried. Neither of them batted an eyelid when the outdoor fireworks started.

congrats speicher.

as an aside, and totalling hijacking this thread, if anyone wants an animal but doesn't want to commit to a life sentence, the RSPCA run a "fostering" scheme for victims of domestic abuse. Women's Aid approached them as they were having a problem convincing women to leave the home because abusive partners often threaten the women's pets as a way of controlling the woman. Women's refuges don't have the capacity for pets, so the RSPCA set up a fostering service, where people volunteer to have abused peoples pets for about 6 months while said abused person gets help and sets up a home of their own. then they come back for their pets. Just thought i'd mention it.

Sounds good Speich', how have they got on today?

Rosie is a nice name for a mainly black cat with bits of white.

However, this will be my first, and I have no experience in this. I really do not know how my life will change, but I am sure it will be quite drastic.

I am now getting to the stage where I am nervous, and wondering if I have made the right decison.

Good luck with everything. And don't be believing all this guff that other women come out with to get sympathy off us men about it hurting and all that. I'm not saying it doesn't smart a bit but you are designed to do it so just get on with it!

It would be an excellent name, if the lady opposite was not called Rosie.

They have been getting on fine. Tasha, as she is temporarily named, is a bit quiet but that is to be expected after what she has been through recently. At 1 am this morning she decided she needed to know if anyone was around. Yes, it was dark and she was in a strange house.

Leo seems unconcerned that she ate "his" biscuits during the night, having also consumed all her own biscuits. This afternoon, they nearly collided, when one was coming downstairs, and one going up stairs, but apart from that, fine. Tasha likes to be made a fuss of, but is not sure yet about being held for any longer than a few minutes. I think that because she is so small and so young, Leo has realised that she is no threat to him in the heirachy.
