If I do both 50/50 and 100 km challenges in 2025 I’ll stick with doing separate rides and not double counting. On the split ride issue, I can see a particular problem for those in hotter climes which needs a pragmatic solution. If @bluenotebob takes a classic French lunch break with a couple of glasses of red and a cognac before getting back on the bike, Chapeau!

2024 done. I'll post the ride details and update my stars tomorrow.

Because I'm not on great form I planned a flat as possible ride. Unfortunately Aeolus, god of the wind, had other ideas. I spent a fair amount of time hunched down in the drops, trying to make myself as small as possible (no easy feat) in bottom gear, inching along. All in all, including a sandwich stop and a couple of photo stops, plus a rather annoying routing snafu it took just over seven hours for 103 km. I'm just getting slower and slower.

By the way, no cafe stops or sit-downs apart from sort-of-sitting leaning on my crossbar once when eating sandwiches and once waiting for a level crossing to open.

I saw a splendid fox near Gatwick. Urban foxes are ten-a-penny, and often a bit mangy looking but this rural fox was fantastically bushy and healthy looking. I may have a photo if my Cycliq was working. Will check tomorrow.

I'm now completely wiped out, and unfortunately have to go out and be kind of sociable tonight. I might fall asleep.

On the 'can make it a 100+km in a day' I think this is a 'different' challenge.
If one sets out on a ride planning on 100+km and by design or otherwise, stops to eat 'at home' a % through and cracks on then one's ridden 100+km same as stopping and eating 'out' or just cafe coffee and cake. The latter breaks (for me) will nearly always be because I'm riding in company and being sociable. Or taking the opportunity to call in on friends (or even have the friends visit as the ride's raison d’être).

I completed a trip from Weymouth to Exmouth and back (lost car key; don't ask) this autumn but that would've been too far both ways so I cycled 55km to Crewkerne, train (75 mins), 20km in E Devon, returned to train (20km) and then SE from Crewkerne 55km back to Weymouth. Was 'one ride' for me (and was fun!), but might fall foul of @Sea of vapours' acceptability threshold, I fear. Fortunately it met/surpassed my threshold, which is what mattered.

In case I forget, I wish all who pushed off in January and are still clipped in a Merry Christmas, and hope you get windows of reasonable weather and pink tickets aligned for another ride or two this year.

my 100 km rides tend to have a cafe break in as i mainly do my rides as a club ride , they do spend way to long for me but thats the price you pay for company ;). if i am on my own i would generally be there literally for as long as it takes to slurp down a cuppa and a piece of cake .

I think we're still waiting on @cyberknight and @footloose crow

I think that @13 rider @Ajax Bay @Dogtrousers @geocycle @Sea of vapours @ukbabz @UphillSlowly @Willd @Sbudge are all complete.

Of course I could have made some mistakes there.

indeed, its going to be close this year
