Septembers done . Something a bit different this month ,I'm away on my holidays on the Isle of man so of course I had to ride the TT course which is 37 miles long so with the ride to and from made a total of 65 miles . The Mountain took me 43 minutes to climb some 1400ft up from sea level start . Then less than 10 minutes to descend .

nice , this weekend was a bust for me due to crappy weather and a dodgy knee , enforced rest and ice pack.

Nice one. I'd like to do that ride.

Amazingly yesterday I had to put sun screen ,bit outcast today and it was misty on the mountain, hope the knee clears up

yesterday was rainy / damp most if the day here and mrs ck work times meant i couldnt get out as although mini 1 is technically old enough to keep an eye on mini ck2 i wouldnt trust em alone together for the amount of time needed to rock off a 100 km ride .
Knee doesnt feel too bad today, just a little niggle and tender but as its the one i had the cartilage snipped last year im not risking it especially as i have to cycle to work tomorrow and im still restricted at work with my thumb fusion till i get sign off from the works doctor then i need a workplace assessment to see if there are any jobs i cant do ( anything with impact guns is out to start )

Decided to use the 100 Climbs Peak Challenge for one of my 100km ride and tick off a few climbs I have not done before (Slack Hill - shouldn't have bothered), Star Disk (couldn't manage it, thanks to Wirksworth Festival, cooked legs and an idiot revving his car behind me). Jaggers Lane and Stanton in Peak were both new routes and the latter was the prettiest with views almost as good as Longstone Edge.
Some pictures, in no particular order:

November in the bag. I rode down to Brighton via a rather hilly route over the North Downs via Cudham, the Greensand Ridge via Ide Hill and then over the top of the Ashdown Forest before Ditchling Beacon and down into Brighton.

Started off with a kind of Scotch mist light rain that got thicker and heavier so that by the time I got to my second breakfast stop at Ide Hill I was soaking. About half way, just before Hartfield and the climb onto the Ashdown Forest it cleared up and was most pleasant for the rest of the day.

Despite getting wet at first it was a good ride. No mechanicals, close passes, didn't forget any important things. No Bad Things at all. Now on a train home from Brighton.

That was close! I've been pretty ill since late October and yesterday was the very first (and last) day I could try and do my 100. After nearly 8 unbroken years I was determined to do it even if it did me in. Funny enough the ride, an idiot in an SUV and a hoodie on a 'leccy all nearly *did* do me in! The Good news was I had a new bike to cheer me up (ordered before I got sick) so that helped.

I failed to complete 2024 today. The weather forecast was not great but Ok-ish grey, not too cold, maybe showers. I was feeling not great but Ok-ish with a lingering chesty cough. I figured a 100k meander should be possible as long as I took it easy. There was a steady drizzle from the start. My breathing was bad and I was trundling slowly. Then at around 30km the rain set in properly and I started to get really cold. I couldn't put an effort in to warm myself up as I couldn't breathe hard enough. So I bailed out to the nearest station and finished with 50-odd km on the clock, feeling about 100 years old. Definitely the right decision.

Still, got a few weekends left.

I think for sure @Dogtrousers is saying he didn't ride a 100+km "today" (1 Dec) and thus 'failed' to failed to complete their 2024 challenge. 31 days to go.
