I wet into a proper shop in York at the midday feeding time, bought a linen and silk mixture suit, and came out with enough change from £800 for my bus fare back.

And just as I kind of expected, I received an email from Hilditch & Key today saying that I can have either the electric blue poet fedora or the black poet fedora for the same price as the green one. There's no need to ponder over which one to choose as the electric blue is now only available in a too big for me 63 centimeters size, so I'll take the black one. On seeing their email my thoughts were that I should've waited another day to see if they offered me what I asked for and held back on buying the Borsalino fedora as I now have two hats, but on looking at the Borsalino page it's now sold out in my 60 centimeter size, so at least I can say I bought the last one and I do like it, thinking I'd be kicking myself for missing out on it, if I hadn't bought it! A tale of two hats indeed!!! 🧐

On a recommendation from a friends Missus I've checked out the Next website, and they do suits, sport coats and blazers in proper man sizes...including the 54 long I require.

Some good stuff at nice prices, so I've ordered a nice looking cord blazer to see ifmits as good as it looks.

I opened the hat yesterday. It fits perfectly, though a 61cm size, which wasn't available might've given a bit more room for air ventilation as that leather sweatband (I can't understand how leather is supposed to soak up sweat as it definitely doesn't) is going to be a problem in warm weather. The fur felt it's made out of is quite thin and not as substantial as I hoped it'd be and I was also hoping for a transparent plastic covering of the Borsalino label on the inside of the crown to preserve the label, but as you can see it doesn't have one. I've handled Borsalino hats in the retro clothing shop I work in and they've felt much thicker and stiffer than this one, plus the brand name on the inside of the crown was always transparent plastic covered on those much older ones. I haven't decided whether to keep it or not, though I probably will, but I'll wait to see that other hat in the tale of two hats saga before deciding. 🤔

I knocked on her door having not met her before, even though she moved in about 6 months ago. Though I think I might've said hello in passing.🤔 She was very friendly and said she'd take any parcels in for me, even offering to carry the parcel to my car. I politely declined the offer as it was very light in weight, though maybe a bit big, but it fit under my arm. How kind of her, so taking her up on her offer I knocked yesterday asking if she would accept the black fedora hat which is due later today as I post. She said she would, with me adding that I only get the odd parcel every now and then, not wanting her to think I now see her address as a parcel pick up point! 🧐
