Being English I don't have a tartan, but my first/Christian name is also a surname that has a recognised tartan. I have that tartan in a wool scarf form, but the tartan is a but bland (Green and grey with a bit of burnt orange). It's not an interesting tartan at all, but I thought I'd buy a bit of it due to the slight name connection.

Well technically I'm English (though regard myself as naturalised Welsh after living here for 45 years), but I have a Scots grandfather - A Sinclair from Wick, and so I have a kilt in the Sinclair hunting tartan, which I wear for weddings and some other formal occasions.

Crazy prices now for a Schoffel fleece, though Cordings do seem to add a fair bit on due to them knowing that folk will pay more seeing as it's bought from them. This one https://www.cordings.co.uk/navy-schoffel-berkeley-1-4-zip-fleece.html is £189.95. I found then bought the same fleece from a charity shop (though mine's a full length zip, not a quarter length one, so even better), in a perfect fit size for me, in March 2022 (check back on this thread if you like) for a mere £2.50 and it had hardy been worn, if at all. It's ok and all that, but at the end of the day they're made from polyester and have a supposed leather piping on the edges. Nice, but more name and image than quality I'd say.

Was the whole clan tartan thing not invented by Sir Walter Scott?

Although, as someone with a very Scottish surname, I do have a tie and scarf in my clan tartan.

They've got to pay Mayfair levels of rent.

There's plenty of country clothing type websites that sell Schoffel stuff, always a sale on somewhere.

I found then bought this from the retro clothing shop I work in yesterday. Sorry about the label's angle shot, you'll just have to turn your laptops around a little! :okay: I think it's from the 1980's. I paid £18 for it. Not bad for lots of real suede and wool.

It looks brighter in 'the flesh' and fits me perfectly. I tried it on when wearing my latest Cordings 'kecks', along with a shirt and tie and I must say it looked quite smart. A little 'old man' looking maybe, but now I'm 63 I feel I can wear 'old man' clothing at ease.
