Fair play to you for designing your own boots! Have you applied loads of neutral renovating polish to them? Soon after I get a new pair of shoes/boots I rub renovating polish into the leather. I don't do it straight away as I like to let those creases in the leather appear, then I rub the polish into those 'stress points'.

Small batch produced dubbin from an artisan leather bookbinder.

I'm not a shooter but I think Purdey would see themselves several grades above that

They might, but I'm not sure that would be justified, given that Rolex are ranked in the top 10 of luxury watch manufacturers by every site I have looked at, some ranking them as high as 2. And I was think as much about brand recognition as about actual quality.

There is only one brand consistently ranked higher that anybody not a watch aficionado is likely to have even heard of - which would be Patek Pilippe.

Purdey may well regard themselves as the shotgun equivalent of Patek Philippe.

And looking up similar shotgun brand rankings, they would probably be right.

I like big boots and I cannot lie.

This is a supremely comfortable pair of boots. They're really light and the leather's really soft so not like wearing a big heavy bovver boot. For comparison my monkey boots are about 650g each whereas these are closer to 470g so a big difference. He actually ended up using a size 6.5 last to get the heel right but extended it to the length of a size 8.

I think the blue and brown, while a fairly conservative choice, work well together. Now I need to save up my money and wear out some of my other footwear so I can go back and get some colourful shoes made. Possibly a pair like those in the background.

Liking those, very smart, with attitude!

So, tell me, why is wearing a blue suit and brown shoes considered a bigger crime against humanity than the Americans nuking Japan, the Holocaust, Pol Pot's Killing fields, Szebenica, Rwanda, Syria, Yemen, Palestine and Donald Trump?

Seriously though, the tie is high up enough to not pull the gaze downwards too much if he had his jacket buttoned up. You don't want your full length to be visible.

Else it does indeed just point to your crotch.
