Yeah it's the old joke:

"How do you satisfy and keep a woman happy?"

"Give her decent pockets!"

A workmate bought a suit and when he came to cut the pocket flaps free (they usually come tacked shut), to his great annoyance he found it only had sham pockets. I believe ladies clothes are often like this but it's rare on gents' suits

When I was in the Boy's Brigade, we still wore suit jackets/blazers as part of the uniform (Company section).

Amazing things, smart, warm, versatile too (I still enjoy wearing a suit jacket, even now, knowing just how useful they can actually be) and also pretty handy for Weddings, Funerals and other occasions too, unlike the shirt based uniforms they have now/had (luckily I left before then).

I still have and use (albeit very rarely) the black clip - on tie, but everything else is now long gone. ☺️

Not sure if the link's gonna work for everybody as it's a facebook story but here's a quick shot of my boots being finished off. Hopefully picking them up tomorrow if the planets align.

Edit: linky here if the embedding's not working.

Edit2: and a screenshot if you can't see the video.

These things take time. I've been adding stuff to my Cordings basket, then taking stuff out and adding more, then more or less emptying it then starting again, but I think I've decided on these two items to buy. I've decided on a straight hem for the wine coloured cords as my two other pairs of Cordings cords have cuffed/turned up hems. I've decided on cuffs for the chocolate tweeds because I don't have a pair of tweed trousers with cuffs. My colour choices have been influenced by variety of trouser colours. If I buy those two pairs I'll have a bottle green pair of cords, a terracotta pair and a wine coloured pair. If I buy the chocolate tweeds I'll have a tan pair, a beige pair, a navy blue pair and the chocolate pair. This will mean seven pairs of autumn/winter trousers, with no pairs matching another pair's colour.

The Link won't show. Have you had them made for you? 🤔

I have, yeah. Started the process back in the spring but due to being busy, having some emails going astray and generally not being in a rush they've only just been finished. Lead time from when I actually got around to paying a deposit is only two months which isn't bad really. Made to the shape of my foot and in my choice of leathers, all done by one bloke in a little workshop down the road.

I do have trouble getting boots to fit properly so hopefully these will do the trick. My wife loves the pairs he's made for her.

I like big boots and I cannot lie.

This is a supremely comfortable pair of boots. They're really light and the leather's really soft so not like wearing a big heavy bovver boot. For comparison my monkey boots are about 650g each whereas these are closer to 470g so a big difference. He actually ended up using a size 6.5 last to get the heel right but extended it to the length of a size 8.

I think the blue and brown, while a fairly conservative choice, work well together. Now I need to save up my money and wear out some of my other footwear so I can go back and get some colourful shoes made. Possibly a pair like those in the background.

Just so long is it's not brown shows with a blue suit. That combo makes me feel almost as ill as a short sleeve shirt paired with a tie. I mean, they'll be wearing football boots with a sequined ball gown next.

I think a nice pair of brown semi or full brogues looks fine with a smart-casual blue suit - eg linen, or that rather fine blue tweed check Accie was showing off a while back. I'd go as far as suggested it goes better than black shoes.

Granted you'd not wear brown shoes with a dark blue bank manager's pine stripe, but I'd
not eschew brown shoes otherwise

Fair play to you for designing your own boots! Have you applied loads of neutral renovating polish to them? Soon after I get a new pair of shoes/boots I rub renovating polish into the leather. I don't do it straight away as I like to let those creases in the leather appear, then I rub the polish into those 'stress points'.
