To an extent, yes, but not entirely.

And BTW, I think the shoes in your first post (1028) above are just as flashy as the ones in the Al Capone post.

They have a cream/beige contrasting colour, whereas the 'Al Capone' ones have white as their contrasting colour. I'd say tan and cream, even to a lesser extent black and cream aren't as 'striking' as black and white. If you wore black and white spectator shoes it'd probably be for a fancy dress or a themed event I'd say. To wear black and white spectators for every day use I think would look a bit odd, but then odd is different, so if you want to stand out then why not!!

Hell, it'll soon be Christmas Jumper season!

Sadly that's true. I think the novelty of wearing Christmas jumpers wore off a while ago. It's not funny anymore, not that it that funny when the elaborate ones became popular about 15 years ago.

I'm old enough to remember when bowler hats weren't exactly common, but weren't an unusual sight either.

when I first started work, there was a strict hierarchy , bowlers were for managers, white collar staff, e.g. draughtsmen were expected to wear a trilby, manual workers were allowed flat caps, after all, they had to have something to doff to their superiors.

A pal of mine said similar when he started at BT, or the Post Office as it the. was. All the foremen wore bowler hats, and quite a few more ambitious folk the next grade down had a bowler hat stashed in the cupboard in case they were asked to supervise in the foreman's absence.

I remember this from the 1970's, which explains it all. 🧐

Will you be wearing a necktie on the 18th of October? 🧐 I will, but then I wear a tie about 300 days a year. It's not just a 'Croatian thing', it's world wide, so get a tie on that day! :okay:
