The off white pants came out ok...so far. I've washed 'dry clean only' pants before, thinking they've survived the ordeal, only to see glued down seems come apart a while later. I checked before to see if the seems were sewed not glued and they are. Let's see how they iron when nearly dried.

I'm just about to 'gentle wash' a pair of linen, wool and polyester summer pants. I'll soak them first for a while in the lukewarm non-bio water. It says 'dry clean only' on the label, but wool and lined can be gently hand washed, so I'm going to risk it. I spilt beer on them last night and with them being off white they've become grubby at the hems. White or off white pants get grubby very quickly, so paying a tenner to have them dry cleaned after about 6 or 7 wears isn't practical.

I've successfully washed proper (wool) suit trousers in the washing machine. Low temperature arguably the most important thing, but also used a gentle setting, slow spin, and used the special soap for wool. Totally worked with no harm to trousers

Did ruin one pair as I'd nudged the dial to a fiercer
and hotter setting, and they would only fit a ten year old, but if you can avoid bungling washing in the machine is fine

I didn't wash those pants till last night. I did as I said i'd do with them, then after hand wringing them out I hung them outside an open window for a few hours to drip dry. It was that warm last night that after only a few hours outside they were only slightly damp. I've had them on a clothes rack overnight and now they're almost dry, so I'm going to iron them soon and see how they turn out.

All the fairly recent hat discussion has prompted me to buy a new summer allotment hat which has just turned up

The Empire is threatened when alleged gentlemen behave like this.
I made do with a scruffy Polo shirt and a mature pair of Rohan zipoffs.

I kept looking at myself in mirrors, thinking something just wasn't quite right, regarding the shirt collar.🤔 Then when about to take the stiffeners out before hand washing it, it hit me that I'd been out with a floppy collar!!
