Surely Accy would be a polo player, a chance to mince around in even more posh clobber.
Quite ! This is him isn't it?

Have you tried bike polo. It is good fun in an odd sort of way
No, but I can see the appeal. I think I may be a bit past it though
Well I tried at 70!
Where does one find out about it, I am sufficiently intrigued!
Google bike polo. Bit off the radar. But lots going on.
My experience on a hard court enclosure suggests it helps to have a fixie, smaller is easier. Like polo ponies. Short bars, single brake, deffo helmet and armoured gloves.
Being a leftie gives everyone else real problems.
Field bike polo is another matter altogether, court is much bigger and the ball goes out of play a lot. Unless players are good
Whaaaat?!🧐Being a leftie
I believe a leftie is sort of communist or trade union shop steward. Or a left handed person. Same thing, probably.Whaaaat?!🧐

What do you want to know?! I’ve played for the last 10 years on and off; most countries have a small ‘scene’ and it’s a great way to meet people from all over the world. There are local domestic leagues (E.g. london have a winter league to encourage all-season play). There are domestic and international tournaments hosted all over the world. Northern America and Mainland Europe have very different ‘opinions’ but everyone shares the same rules et and enthusiasm.
Anyone fancy a go?! Specialist bike is preferable but not essential. The general spec for a bike is:
- Small short frame with ideal geometry
- Disc brake (generally hydraulic but lots of support still for BB7s for easy of servicing)
- Helmets are essential (preferably with face cage), hockey gloves are highly recommended, all other clothing/protection is at a riders discretion
- Tattoos and piercings are not compulsory, yet do add to ‘the look’
Accessing an appropriate mallet/ball will be where you come unstuck. There are lots of cities that have a scene and beginners nights if you want to get a flavour (visually or physically) for what the sport, if you can call it that, is about. Bikes are usually available to try.
I’ve just relocated to the South West (Bovey Tracey, between Exeter and Totnes) and have toyed with getting something going on in the local area.
Any takers?!
