@Accy, this is for you to view. It confirms your statement regarding pocket squares.

Make sure you try really hard to make sure it doesn't look like you're trying too hard. JFC.

Speaking of trying too hard I thought this was an interesting video. Not because of the shoes, they're interesting on their own, but look at the two men, how they're dressed and how they're conducting themselves.

On the one hand you've got the host. He's trying to teach men the proper rules of dress, and picking out the 'best' things money can buy. He's obviously making money from YouTube and I think he's got a business selling coathangers or something. Look at him though, stiff, uncomfortable, out of place, really looks like he's trying too hard. I don't think he looks good at all.

Now check out the other bloke, the fancy cobbler. He's dressed smart, jacket but no tie, but see how relaxed he is. He's in his element, doing what's natural to him and he just looks so much better and more stylish than the host. It's all the difference between trying too hard and relaxing into yourself, being comfortable in your environment.

Admittedly not many of us have 'luxury Mayfair shoe shop' as our environment but you get my point.

Thanks Dave! I remember when the former Mrs Accy and me got married in 1991, the old bloke across the road used to sunbathe on his front while wearing a brown 3 piece pinstripe suit. When I say sunbathe I mean sitting in a deckchair for a while, while he had a cup of tea. Then there was the old bloke who tended his wife's grave from 1993 when she died, till his death 3 years later. I'd see him in the cemetery nearly every day, wearing again, a 3 piece brown pinstripe suite. Those 2 old blokes were the last I saw wearing suits all day and every day.

When I started out in archaeology in the mid 80s, I worked on a few sites that encouraged volunteers. One of the regulars was a local chap who'd dabbled in archaeology as a youngster in (I think) the 30s before eventually getting a proper job with the family firm of solicitors. He always sported a well worn tweed three-piece suit with a tie and stout brogues on site.

It's hard to be as stylish these days thanks to the universal adoption of uniform high visibility clothing on all types of 'construction' sites.

I bought some Ray Ban glasses today for £49.99 from TK Maxx. I've fancied some clear glass/not sunglasses, glasses for a while. I didn't know for sure if they were clear or reactolite. I found out when I tried them outside that they are clear, not reactolite lenses. I'll think about it for a day or so then either keep them or take them back. 🤔

I've just had a phone call from Peter Christian's returns department, regarding the too long trousers I returned. The navy ones in a 31 inch inseam I asked for are on their way, but the sand coloured ones are out of stock till early May. They asked if I wanted to wait, or did I want the navy ones and a refund for the sand ones. I'm willing to wait as it's only a month and a bit to wait and they're more for late spring/summer than now, so they won't be getting worn soon anyway. I quite like the phoning the customer, rather than texting them to ask bit!

The trousers arrived on Monday. Or should I say I missed the postman, so I had to drive 6 miles to the sorting depot, only to find them closed, so I had to go back again yesterday. :cursing: Anyway, I was pleased to find that they fit perfectly and both pairs, not just the navy ones were in the box! The length/break sits on the second lace eyelet down of the shoe, which according to what I've read is the correct place for your trouser leg to sit. The only downside I can think of is that these are the first trousers/pants I've ever owned where the waist size is greater than the inside leg size. I remember as a late teen my waist was 28 inch and my inside leg was 34/5. Does this mean I'm now 'suffering' from middle aged spread?

I took them back. 50 quid for some 'designer' non prescription glasses, how silly of me to buy them. Anyway, while there I bought a pale pink, slight pinstripe Charles Tyrwhitt shirt for £20 with 'complimentary brass collar stiffeners'. £30 quid back and a much better buy I'd say! :okay:

PSA: The best trousers are back in stock, lads. Get 'em before they run out again.

I've decided to avoid 'expensive' Panama hats. I have a fear that no matter how expensive they are, they will fail as in the straw comes apart in certain places. Maybe I'll buy a cheaper one at some point in the coming summer, but I've decided that an unlined felt hat will be far more robust and yet still cool enough. I have my eye on the one below. 🤔

I've ordered these two hats. Beside the one above I was pondering over, I've also gone for a not too expensive Panama.

I do like the 'tobacco' colour! It's certainly different to the usual light tan or natural to some, or bleached white you tend to see Panamas in.
