Don’t you have to work in a hick-town newspaper office to wear those ?

Yes and preferably wear a head visor as well... and be a chain smoker!! ;)

You’d feel shafted paying that for a hat

Each to their own as they say. I'd feel shafted if I paid that, or even more for a weekend in a Blackpool B&Bl!!

Then why keep posting in the thread ? Unfollow and save yourself the heartache .

Because there are a few of us who like to think about and discuss the clothes we wear and how we wear them, sensibly and in the real world. The OP had some genuine questions and was asking for advice which I don't think included ridiculous hats. Accy did start a cosplay thread all of his very own but has decided to take over this one. We could start another* but the same thing would happen, people would tag him in for a laugh and it would descend into madness again.

I found and bought these in the retro clothing shop I work in today. Elasticated metal armbands for holding your shirt sleeves up if they are too long. I usually have a 'not long enough' problem, but I think they look a bit different.

I actually have a pair of these and use them a lot, on the rare occasions I wear a suit.

As I have short arms, but am quite wide across the neck and chest, the arms of (store bought) shirts are usually way too long, and the cuffs stick out of the sleeves of the suit, without these.

TBF I do own a selection of fancy hats and suits, and even some of those elasticated sleeve things but they're not everyday style. I wear them at events, parties, shows, burlesque nights, that sort of thing.

Work style is more skinny floral ties and cardigans...

Accy has real style and doesn't dress from the bland isle of M&S and a cookie cutter watch.

And more power to him if that's how he wants to dress, I have no desire to shop at M&S either. It just makes it impossible to have a sensible discussion about men's clothing anywhere on the forum.

I'm not sure tie goes with a cardigan, I'm also not a fan of dark shirts with a lighter tie, although I rarely wear a tie nowadays, even with a suit

The discussion is going fine besides you, chill out
It goes fine because it's self-selecting.

I don't like light shirts so I always wear dark. If I had to wear a tie I would probably hate it, but I don't, so I do. You should see what I've got on my feet, I don't think I could get any more smart casual.

Sooo 'dandyesque' I'd say!!:becool: I suppose it's the hat you'd wear with an off white seersucker or linen suit, in the height of summer, though I think pale pink or lilac would also go very well with it!!

I've just noticed the hat's delivery price and no returns policy.

'Cost to deliver
£61.88
Etsy offsets carbon emissions from delivery and packaging on this purchase.
Returns & exchanges
Not accepted

But please contact me if you have problems with your order'

£373 quid for a choice between large, extra large etc, not in centimeters as most are at that price range, plus you can't send it back if it doesn't fit, isn't good.

I don’t “keep posting”. There’s no heartache here. Why should we be a hostage to one man’s taste? If Accy shut up a bit perhaps others might bother to post. I’m merely pointing that out. We know his style now: even bird feeding has become about his trouser choice. I’m simply bored with the noise, and pointing that out on what is my forum just as much as yours or his.

I find it interesting to see what others think is stylish. The OP did too. All we have now is an endless drone of overpriced hats and badly made suits, and one man’s “style”, which appears to be motivated by some desire to appear better because the clothes have a price tag. That’s interesting, but perish the thought we could have that discussion. It’s ignored, or shut down. Only ego massage, no discussion, thanks.

if this is the forum you want, then you crack on. You’re welcome to it.
