When should you stop wearing trainers all the time, seems to be the footwear of choice for older men these days.
But do quite like to see older women wearing them into late 40s 50s :hyper:

I wear a pair of white ones on dry summer days, but come the end of August they go back in their box till next summer. I definitely wouldn't wear trainers in the rain or snow like I see some most do.

Everyone was wearing trainers most of the time when 40 or 50 year old men were in their teens and 20s. What should they be wearing? Asking for a friend in a similar age bracket.

I guess they're OK if you go running. Needless to say I don't posses a pair.

The term trainers covers such a wide range of shoes though. I've got smart looking trainers that I keep at work, everyday trainers I wear around town, proper running shoes, some which are inspired by sport design but not actually for sports, a pair which are more akin to light hiking shoes...

I'm not even particularly a sneakerhead. We had a student at work who had loads, she would coordinate them with her outfit. I tend to wear a shirt and tie with chinos and trainers. The trainers are skateboarding shoes with really soft soles, it's like wearing a pair of slippers all day.

If you get the right pair, you can wear trainers with almost any outfit and it'll look good.

Going on for a couple of weeks since my three Christys fedoras arrived I still haven't worn the light grey one yet.

I'm thinking about sending it back as although grey is easy match-able with most other colours and shades I think the black headband makes the hat slightly too formal. I have until the end of the month to return the hat. Mmm, I don't know, I might return it then later regret it and I'm wary these days of items being lost in the postal system. 🤔

I wear 'hiking' trainers for everyday, and if I'm going to a gig, often wear a pair of adidas ...
I'm 61yrs old, and really NOT ready for velcro-vinyl urine-resistant-fleece-lined-f*ck-me-slip-ons yet

If I'm wearing jeans walking around town, going to the office or on a night out, I basically always wear leather shoes. It's not a fashion statement, I just find them more comfortable and less sweaty than trainers.

It's actually surprising how often girls comment on my nice shoes.

In summer, chances are I will be wearing shorts so wear hiking trainers with them as black leather shoes with shorts looks a bit odd IMO.

I use flat pedals on my bikes and ride in hiking trainers.

If I actually am going hiking, I wear either my hiking trainers or hiking boots depending on the terrain.

If I'm walking on the beach, I will do it barefoot.

I once read that one of the first things a woman checks out on a man is the cleanliness of his shoes.

That is true. Not just the cleanliness, but also what footwear the man is wearing.

I have six pairs of trainers as I'm quite sporty so need a variety but the way i roll is I like wearing my suede desert boots mainly
rather than doss about in trainers. I even cycle in them now and again depending on where I'm going to. Wrong side of 40 now so outgrowing certain fashion wear.
Had to have a cull of the wardbrobe this past summer, took 2 full bin bags down the charity shops, stuff like rippped jeans and shirts certain tops, all sorts really that I no longer feel comfortable or like wearing ever again. Levis, nice shirts and sports jacket desert boots and my favorite italian supple tan leather shoes that cost me a tenner from a charity shop.
