It was the thin end of the wedge when Cordings started putting their name on their overcoat buttons.

But they don't. Well as far as I know they don't. I have many Cordings items and not a single branded button in sight. I'm going to have a look at some of their items I have to make sure, but I'm almost sure thy don't put their name on their buttons. Mind you, I wouldn't mind branded buttons if it meant they sewed them on tightly! I've spent many minutes, even hours sewing their loose, almost falling off buttons tightly in place.

Here’s one from my covert coat which I think is about six years old.

Designer bling. What next? A Burberry baseball cap? ;)

Hey, at least it's subtle, isn't a label buttoned to the sleeve, woven in, or printed on the exterior in large letters, all of which I find very chavish, I mean I 've got style i haven't even used yet, that branding is so over the top if i could afford it , i'd buy Cordings,no question !

At the prices they charge I'd expect a tailor sent round to my house to sort that out personally.

They'd probably charge for that too!

A quick, 'good lord my man, do you know who I am?' should deal with that.

Nobody short changes the tenth earl of Accrington. 😂

This.

If I was spending thousands on clothes I'd expect the buttons to be sewn on properly.

I guess it could be a preference thing, but that's a joke.

Cordings emailed me the other day thanking me for my custom over recent years asking If I had any suggestions as to how they could improve their customer care. I suggested they employed staff who could sew buttons on well enough to equal the quality of their products and not like they worked for Primark. Maybe I was a bit harsh, but I felt It needed to be said. So far they haven't replied and maybe I've lost that 10 to 20 percent off offer they give me, but that's not too bad as those offers are so tempting I end up buying stuff I don't really need, or have enough days in the week to wear!🤔

I've just ordered them. They probably won't be worn till mid spring at the earliest, but I thought I'd buy them before they eventually sell out of my size.

They arrived yesterday. They feel very robust and fit perfectly. I didn't know they were/are Goodyear Welted, but you can tell with the weight and trying experimentally without success to try and bend the sole they are. That might mean they'll take some breaking in, so I'll have to be in pain for a while, while doing so.

Reiss are a weird brand (or seem so to me as an someone outside of their target audience). They sell a lot of very well made clothes but mostly in styles that simply won't suit or in some cases even fit me (before anyone asks I'm closer to Accy's build than Mr Creosote) - skin tight suit trousers etc. Their prices however, are often higher than what you might think of as high end competition.

On the other hand, their sales are a source of fantastic silk pocket squares that are by no means.. er.. square.
