I sold this made in Colombia hat in the retro clothing shop I work in today for £20. It's quite old and probably made from beaver fur, which is quite sad, but apparently the fur from a beaver's 'belly' is the best fur available for such hats. The buyer was so impressed with his buy he gave me £50 telling me he'd got a bargain so he thought it was well worth more than £20! We both said if the hat was new and being sold in a 'posh' shop they'd be asking £500 to £600 for it! If It'd fit my 60 centimeter head I'd have bought it myself when it appeared about 2 months ago, but it was too small for me, probably being about 57 centimeters.

It's not my thing those coats. Far too short for me. Barely keeps the wind off your plums. But to be fair i've never worn anything like it. I wouldn't mind betting that those jackets would be knackered after a few months...

pretending to be warm in our winter weather

I can assure you they are not pretending, the right padded jacket is both warm and lightweight that's why they are popular, that's why people don't use tweed anymore for hiking etc.
There are a lot jumping on the fashion angle with cheap jackets that may not be as good, but as you know if you want quality go for well known make.

But 'fashion' is all about disposable recyclable reusable fabrics these days, plus you have to wear the regulation 'black' to be 'in'.
Proper made clothes out of proper manufactured cloth doesn't need recycling , when it isn't 'Mode Vogue', anymore, you might have items recut ,but not isn't likely.
That's the difference, functional clothing, doesn't go 'in & out' of style, fashion, the 'conigescenti' just wear it because it's made to last.
I 'd wear Tweed & Twill , as I have 'style' I haven't even used yet!!!

It seems that around 70 percent of the population is/are wearing such garbs as this item below these days! 🧐

But how can light weight plastic keep you warm, compared to 21 ounce in weight per square meter yard British tweed 🇬🇧 I ask!!🧐

Looks like repurposed hot water tank lagging.

I've still got a North Face down jacket that cost me £150 nearly thirty years ago, it does a brilliant job but isn't in the least bit waterproof, so in a down pour you need a good waterproof over it.

As already said, if you get a good one they're great, but get a Primarni and you get what you pay for.
