I am now counting down the days !!!! its been a long time coming;)

I just hope it wont be a terrible disappointment for you, you know she comes across as a lovely well balanced caring individual on here but in reality she's, well, a bit of an axe murderer. That thing she has about bones? She wears them in her hair. Her knitting needles? Bones. I kid you not. She only learned to knit so she could get her back hair under control. It's not a cape you know.

I mean, she's lovely and all that. Just don't stand too close, she'll take your arm off, dig a hole and bury it. Then come back months later to dig it up so she can pretend she's an archeologist.

Mickle, I think I want that as my epitaph!:becool::biggrin::biggrin:

So what is the current plan? A day thing, or an over night? Obviously, I can't plan until Mickle can look at the van availability, but I'd probably be able to either - day or weekend. Although direct trains to Hull aren't as frequent as I'd hoped...

i was proposing a day ride starting at 10ish stopping somewhere for a brew/cake/alcohol/chips/kebab/KF* of some description and then finishing with a pub garden

obviously i know FA about the area(being from London;)) so i will leave it to someone else brave enough (ADMIN:biggrin:)

as i said i have a road bike,so i cant really use old railway/dirt tracks;)

I quite fancy making a weekend of it. I haven't been camping this year yet so a ride then camping/party later sounds good if Soltydog's offer still stands.

Gezza, there are loads of quiet roads heading in the same direction so we can work out an alternative route you can do on the road bike.

How about two separate routes? One down the old railway track, and another for those who want to use their road bikes.

We could all meet-up in the morning and head out together, split off into the two routes, then meet-up again when we get to Hornsea.

I'm guessing the railway track ride will be at a slightly slower pace than the road ride, so maybe make the road one a little longer so we all get their at roughly the same time?

We could start in the town centre and all ride up to Sutton on the roads (where the main part of the old railway line leaves Hull), then split off there into the two routes.

Just a thought.

Cheers,
Shaun

Oh yeah, we'll obviously need some local peeps on both routes

Hmm, I'm on a road bike, but the slow camp...

Well, my FCR can handle a bit of rough (fnarr fnarr), but nothing too bad...

Suppose I could bring the hack, but that's even slower and a big lump to get on and off the train...

Ah well, it'll work out one way or another...

It's not too bad Arch, I just don't want to risk going down it on my Roubaix.

This weekend is the big cycling weekend in Beverley. sportive on Sat

I was looking forward to doing that until I was struck down with "ailments", then a strained back, then a nasty rash. I've managed 15 miles over the past 2 weeks, which I don't think stands me in good stead for the rigours of the wolds.

The service between Hull & York is a little poor, to say the least. I'm sure we can work the start time around your train times  I think there is one arrives in Hull around 11am on Saturdays

The offer is still open. The paddock will be fairly clear cause there's a BBQ there August bank holiday. There is also an old anderson shelter there which will be suitable for bike storage

That sounds like a good idea. I'm not sure of the roads upto Sutton, but I can lead from Sutton either on trail or road & canmake the road route as quick, or as long as required

well this is sounding rather more like me kind of ride. i like the hull to hornsea cycle route, quite a nice ride. don't worry arch, it's certainly no more than 17 miles from the train station to splashing in the sea. a bit more if you are going on to solty's camp site. if it stays fine this weekend, i might have a ride along there, then i can tell you exactly how far.

cheers, velocidad.

i tell you something.....

its great having this idea and watching everyone else do the organising:biggrin:

remember we'll need to find a pub at the end that will be friendly towards cyclists, cos down here in London there arent that many & you get strange looks walking up to a bar in sweaty lycra and asking for 6 pints of fosters etc.....
