Count me in : I'm still trying to decide 'road or rail' (trail)

Road !!!! you know it makes sense;)

Shaun
so far 10 deffos and 3 maybe's,
Saturday 6th September 2008 going from Hull to Hornsea 17ish miles each way
i would leave it as it is and let people join in if they see it,otherwise too many and then its authorities blah blah blah !!!

Obviously i am from Wilds of Londinium:ohmy: so i dont know the area,so could leave the meeting point to someone else to organise ,as for time not fussed(well not before 10amxx()

and if someone could hold my hand and cycle with me from the hotel to start point that would be great !!

Okay, well let's go for a meet-up time of 11am in St. Stephens Square - in front of the shopping centre, located next to Hull Train Station. (This will make it easier for anyone coming by train.)

If the York crew end up coming by car/van we can maybe set off a bit earlier?

I'll come and pick you up and ride into town with you.

I'll maybe have a look at creating some Google maps with the road / rail routes too so we all have an idea of where we're going.

Cheers,
Shaun

i'm a deffo for the ride. just got back from solty's place in mappleton. did the road route there (via aldbrough) then onto hornsea, then back down the trail to hull. i'd choose the trail on the day i think, i'm more of a tootle along having a chat sort of a guy i guess
i live near hessle gezza, so i can meet you at the hotel too if you like. i thought at first you were staying at the 'village' just across from me, but i think it's actually the one on ferriby road, either way i'll come up and meet ya.
hay solty, nice meeting you today. i was a little nervous about that 'BEWARE OF THE DOGS SIGN' incase the size of the sign was directly proportional to the size of the dogs

cheers,
velocidad.

Yeah, me too, until I Google mapped it and found out it was the one next to the Hesslewood Hall entrance.

Thought we might head down Ferriby Road, nip down the pedestrianised bit to the square, then down Hessle Road into town? (Boothferry / Anlaby Road looked a little bit longer?)

Cheers,
Shaun

Nice to meet you too. Did you actually see the size of the dogs

we could maybe take route 65 after the gypsyville flyover, runs parallel with hessle road, down woodcock street etc. it's the way i normally go into town as the traffics always chocker down hessle road.

cheers, velocidad.

no, but my blood ran a little cold when i tripped over a femur shaped chew stick:smile: the howling in the background and people telling me to beware the moor and keep to the path didn't help either

cheers, velocidad

Ok, well, it sounds like we have a plan. As soon as we know the Yorkie logistics, I'll get a train ticket if I need to...

I think I still have your mobile number, Admin, from when we met up, maybe we can PM a few mobile numbers round nearer the time...

Well well well! We is doing an event in Hull on the Sat!

Need to find out the details.....

Ah, so that's a sort of 'Aha!, possible transport', but then again, possibly stops you coming along...

Keep us posted.

I'm out. My presence is required elsewhere I'm afraid.

oh shame. I'll book my train ticket then. Any ideas what time I should book to come home guys? I prefer not to be dashing to catch a train, especially if there's any distance involved...

I dont think you will need to book on Northern services  Even if you do book the conductor on the train will have no record of your booking  If you are going home on the Saturday I think the last train is about 8ish & involves changing at Selby, but not sure of Sunday times, but timetables may change early september.

Okay, I've put together maps (we can edit it if we need to modify routes, etc.).

I'm happy to lead the group from Hull to Sutton, and then the road group from Hull to Hornsea.

Hull to Sutton: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?hl=e...53.762717,-0.32135&spn=0.058956,0.181274&z=13

Track (est. 10 miles): http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?hl=e...3.840374,-0.148315&spn=0.235389,0.725098&z=11

Road (est. 21 miles): http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=2208057

Shall we all meet at St. Stephen's Square (next to Hull Train Station) for an 11am start?

Everyone rides to Sutton, where we then split up into the Track and Road groups, all meeting up again at the Hornsea Mere (lake) where they have a cafe and plenty of space to park the bikes whilst we get our legs back.

After that, well, who knows ...
