I fancy doing that ride, but don't want to take my race bike on that route, I might turn up on my trusty MTB instead. What date are you thinking of?

I use the route regularly for my commute, but never on my road bike, always use my hybrid. Tends to be a bit of broken glass around in places. Only had 1 p******e since switching to marthon + 18 months ago.
It's a nice flat run & i reckon from Hull to Hornsea is about 17 miles.

If anyone likes ice cream I'd recommend Honeysuckle farm, just west of Hornsea. Home made icecream from their own jersey cows. They do cornets, sundaes, banana splits, knicerbocker glory & a selection of home made cakes. I regularly pass by when out on a ride

And Mappleton's famous for being too close to the coast. Nice bit of coastal erosion going on....

We're okay in Mappleton. Sea defences were installed about 15 years ago so lose very little now, but it seems to have made things worse further down the coast at Cowden & Aldbrough

Arch,

I do have a family room at the premier travel inn:wacko:,should you not wish to camp outside:wacko:

I'm not too bothered about the camping, it was just the distance that I felt was a bit much for me. But if it's about 17 each way, as soltydog suggests, I feel better able to tackle that, with train out and back, in a day...

Glad to hear it's okay there now. We were taken to Mappleton on a Geography field trip with school as an example of coastal erosion, but that was more than 15 years ago.

I would to register an interest for this please. So far my other option for this w/e is to go to Ulverston with work colleagues & drink heavily. I'd rather meet Arch!

I've only ever been to the Railway twice & not been impressed on either occasion  The Wrygarth @ Hatfield has re-opened & does a reasonable carvery for £5.50 or a small selection of other meals for about £8 scampi, steak pie etc. Depends what folk want to do.

If we are using the TPT & i'm on my hybrid, i'll ask Mrs Soltydog to bake a banana loaf & bring that along  Be no good on my road bike racer as i'd have to shove it down my shorts
