Well that'll be something for them to look forward to. I especially like that they've managed to find space for their trophy room.

It was just a joke, but it does.

Every player who makes at least 5 league appearances in a title winning season gets a medal.

So could the owner get a medal if they did five 30 second substitute appearances in the last 5 matches?

I don't think it works that way. Would such a happening make him worthy of a Premier League winners 2024/25 medal! I think not!

It does work that way (sort of). The winning club get 40 medals t distribute, which can be given to players, managers or officials, so long as every player who made at least 5 league appearances gets one. If there are more than 39 players who made 5 league appearances, then the club can apply for more medals.

Would it make him worthy of it? No.

FIFA are pushing ahead with a club World Cup in the summer. Totally pointless in my opinion. And the fans won’t be impressed if their players are all knackered.

The main problem from an English point of view being that the two English clubs represented are Man City and Chelsea.

Whilst the two best current clubs, Liverpool and Arsenal are not in it.

Barcelona and Real Madrid aren’t in it. Celtic don’t get a look in either.

No one can convince me that the Champions League isn’t the better competition.

To be perfectly honest my view is it's another meaningless tournament designed to generate more revenue for already staggeringly wealthy clubs. In this country the money will do no more than fuel the ever widening gulf between the top six and the rest.

We have to consider the players. Professional athletes do need recovery time. This is going to allow perhaps three weeks down time at the end of the season. At the end of this silly competition the players will be straight in to pre-season for the PL.

Utterly pointless competition that I won't be watching.

Liverpool did a smash and grab on PSG. Less than thirty percent possession, two shots on goal (compared to 27!) and 1-0 away.

Allison was amazing last night. Easily the best goalkeeping performance I've seen for some time, and I'm particularly pleased that he had a big part to play in the goal. The whole game had a pleasingly old school feel to it I thought.

Looking ahead to this evening and Rangers being welcomed to hell prompted some idle chat with my fitba pals about the possibility of Mourinho ending up at Rangers. I hope he doesn't because I like the guy and wouldn't want to see his reputation tarnished by association with them but we agreed that it would be hilarious, purely to see him wind everyone up.
