One of those games where I want both teams to lose.

Given current form, both teams losing is probably the most likely outcome!

Between my fingers from behind the sofa - couldn't get tickets this time

Tickets are on sale soon for non season ticket holders for Accy's FA Cup game at Anfield. A season ticket holder told me yesterday that she'd bought 4 for £20 each. She said her husband who's driving there would've given me a lift but 5 people, if I were to go with them, in a Toyota Aygo might be a tight squeeze. There are coaches organised by the club leaving Accrington at 8am, according to reports, but I don't fancy getting near to the ground at what might be around 9.30am after the 57 mile journey, as I take it it'll be off to a friendly pub for over 2 hours of boozing. I wonder what team Liverpool will play. I doubt it'll be the whole first team we see in Premier League matches. I reckon it'll be about 3 or 4 of those, 4 Premier League bench warmers and 2 or 3 under 21's given first team experience. They won't put an under 21's team out as whenever Premier League or Championship clubs have under 21 teams in the EFL Trophy those teams tend to lose to the League One and Two teams. What do you think about which team Liverpool will put out @Dave7? 🤔

Hi Accy.
I think Slot is taking the comp seriously and will put a strong team out.
We have a number of first team players coming back from injury eg Jota and Konate and it will be a good opportunity for them to build up their match fitness.
Whatever, I really hope you have a good day, I think the fans will treat you well.

I've been reading about the Manchester derby. A newspaper's ability to come up with meaningless stats and facts never ceases to amaze me. Much modern coverage is taken up by meaningless statistics and phrases......most of it bollocks that many fans adopt as though it imparts deep knowledge of a simple game.

Here's a goody from today's Guardian:

"This is the first Premier League Manchester derby with neither team in the top three at the start of the day since a goalless draw at Old Trafford on 12 December 2020."

I mean really? That's only four years guys. It hardly qualifies as a statistic!

Meanwhile my boys have been "winning ugly." That used to mean not conceding while nicking a goal. Winning ugly??? Geez. Anyway Rovers are hoping for a sixth straight win today.

I was just "watching" the back page headlines on Sky. There is a quote from Pep saying (if I recall correctly) "I can't sleep, I can't eat, am I losing my mind".
Is the writing on the wall for him I wonder?
As a Liverpool fan I am enjoying seeing City in a mini free fall but would like Pep to leave on a high as against a burnt out has been.

Yes, @Dave7 I've read similar stories of lost appetite, not sleeping etc. I'm sure these top jobs come with great pressure. When such a long loss of form comes the pressure must be very intense. Like you I wouldn't want to see Pep burn out, he's a great character and entertainer. That's his choice really. If he thinks the end is approaching it might be best to quit rather than hang around.

I saw a great headline this week:
The Old Lady 2
The Old Men 0

Yes, I saw that headline.
TBH I had not realised the squad was as old as it is eg at least 2 first team members are 34 years old!!! plenty of others around 30yrs old.

Went along to see Whitley Bay v Blyth Spartans. Thought it might be a bit busier as Blyth is just up the road but 301 folks and 5 dogs took in an entertaining 0 - 0 which based on league position is a better result for The Bay.

Rovers have won six on the bounce, scoring nine and conceding only one goal. We are up to fifth. I think December 21st to January 4th will be vital to the season. We play the sides in 2nd, 3rd and 4th in our next run of five matches. we've taken 18/18 points in the last six games. I think we have to beat Sunderland, Hull and Burnley (well, we always HAVE to beat Burnley!), draw at Leeds and if we have to lose one it should be at Millwall.

21/12 - Millwall (A)
26/12 - Sunderland (H) 3rd
29/12 - Hull (H)
01/01 - Leeds (A) 2nd
04/01 - Burnley (H) 4th

No tickets on sale for Leeds yet but I'm hoping to get one!

Does Beck look promising? Been named in a couple of Wales squads but hasn't had minutes yet.

Beck has come to us on a season long loan from Liverpool. We've had some great players from Liverpool recently on this basis. Harvey Elliot for one! When Beck arrived my understanding was he's a left back and he slotted in there well in place of Harry Pickering, one of my favourites in the current team. More recently the manager has played him much further forward on the left in front of Pickering. I think this is his best position and for me he gets better and better by the game. Against Leeds he was my MOTM. Yesterday's goal was in many respects an easy one but it would have been equally easy to have missed such a chance.

I think he has a great future. I'd love Owen to stay at Ewood but I think that's unlikely and he'll go back to Anfield a much more experienced player. Whether he's first team Liverpool quality remains to be seen. It was obvious Harvey Elliot was. I'm hoping the Reds will send us another good 'un for next year.

Our manager praised Gueye for his cheeky heeled back pass
