Yes, that's the usual comment amongst the thousands who like to kick and criticise the club at every opportunity. The vast majority of those "fans" never set foot inside Ewood, except possibly when we play Burnley.

The above is not aimed at you. It would be worth passing on to the "fans" who insist on talking down the club.

Locally I would say we didn't have enough rain to cause a problem. I live less than five miles from Ewood. Preston and Bolton both played and will

Locally I would say we didn't have enough rain to cause a problem. I live less than five miles from Ewood. Preston and Bolton both played and will have had similar weather. Crucially those clubs don't drain the pitch into a nearby river.

The facts are these, and have been for decades. Even in the Walker era when it was rebuilt this ocassionally happened. As you'll know the river Darwen flows behind the Riverside stand. The Darwen has a large catchment area from the moors upstream of Ewood. The pitch drainage system outflow has always, to my knowledge, drained into the Darwen. When the river is in flood It can reach a level where river water begins to fill the drainage system and the pitch ceases to drain.

It may be there were only a few puddles visible. The only people who could really know are those who actually walked on the pitch. The image below is the drainage outflow into the Darwen.

Hence the name of The Riverside Stand! It's nearly 51 years since I first stood on that then terracing, and it was peeing it down that day If I remember rightly. :rain:

Following the Southampton vs Liverpool match on the BBC feed. Someone called Jay commented "A lot of players really struggle to take their club form into international football. But for me, it’s the complete opposite for Szoboszlai. He’s been hovering around average for us since he arrived and isn’t exactly pulling up trees against bottom of the table Saints either. Time to step up and Get a grip Dom. Elliott will be back soon thankfully". With impeccable timing, the Hungarian chap opened the scoring a few minutes later

Yes, we keep grinding out wins. Down 2:1 at Southampton was not good but imo our quality eventually showed.

Proves Slot's point about the Premier League being more competitive than the Eredivisie. McCarthy seems to have been key to the win as the scorers, unfortunately for him.

Yes LFC are motoring along nicely.

I am happy with CFC in third (although that part of the table is very volatile).

Hope next year we will be back on par (maybe plus a bit ^_^) with LFC and also back in a proper Euro competition - not this 3rd division malarkey.

What is going on with Man City
I checked the score last night with 20 minutes to go....... they were 3 nil up.
Just put the radio on to find they drew 3:3.
We play them on Sunday so I hope they still leak goals then.

Personally, am hoping the assisted dying bill is approved on Friday so we have options to avoid unbearable suffering at the weekend.

Wonder how many were fans when they were in the third tier in the late 90s

As I said, I would take the "booed off" with a large pinch of salt. Was the opposite of what happened on Saturday.

There's definitely a fair proportion who were there in the 90s, given I crowds in the old third tier at Maine Road *averaged* over 28,000 (and interesteingly, more than in the Premier League a couple of seasons earlier.

I find my reaction to City's situation a bit odd. I'm interested to see how it all pans out but that's about it.

Contrast this with Man Utd when I, along with tens of thousands of fans, would gleefully rejoice at every problem ever to beset Utd. To this day I enjoy watching every calamity to visit Old Trafford.

It was Guardiola that mentioned booing post‐ match.

Don't like to hear it myself. We (Chelsea) had a lot two seasons back.

Portsmouth fans aren't happy about yesterday's game being called off. https://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/...ng-preston-will-go-ahead-blackburn-rovers-fan

Looking at photos of the raging river next to Ewood Park, caused by the heavy storm and melting snow you'd think the referee might've called the game off on Friday night, to save the expected 2000 Portsmouth fans from making the long journey up here. Having said that If I'd have been one of those Portsmouth fans I think I'd have stayed at home and
Do you know what time they called it off? I pity those Pompey fans who'll probably have set off at 5am to 6am, then found it was off, many hours into the journey up here!!
