I saw the highlights. That was some win! As for us, we lost to the team that'd lost all their games so far this season., but next Saturday we will win comfortably!:okay:

Have some of that Accy

What a great footballer he was.

Yes, he was @Accy cyclist .. he was one of my childhood football heroes. He was on the right wing at Bolton, Gordon Taylor (later head of the PFA) on the left wing and the mighty Wyn Davies in the centre. I've never forgotten watching Franny Lee flying up the wing, leaving the full-back floundering.

RIP Franny

Now that we've heard the comments by the VARs following the incorrect offside decision against Liverpool it just emphasises what a cock-up it was and how it was human error, not the technology, and I am not sure what Liverpool can actually gain out of it.

Surely there can be no chance of a replay because of the precedent that will set for future mistakes.

Human error by referees has always affected the outcomes of games, and this just another example, even though VAR was supposed to eliminate it.

It seems a very simple error to fix.
The VAR officials knew it was a goal, they just communicated it badly due to a misunderstanding.

They just need to change the language from
“That’s fine”. To “It’s a goal or it’s not a goal.”

Cricket has a very strict protocol of language and routine. It’s out or not out.

Indeed, as does rugby (who have been doing it the longest??) "Try or no try" sometime supplemented with can you check the grounding or was that pass forwards, or was the obstruction / interference from the dummy runner as they made the final pass.....

Also in Rugby, the ref looks at the replays too and they discuss it and agree the outcome.

The VRA technology isn't an issue, its the way its used that is shite.

Fully agree with you. There's nowt wrong with using replay technology, it's just really badly implemented in football. It doesn't help that there's a weird omerta around the officials in the game, but that does seem to be changing.

I think basketball might have been the earliest adopter of replays? Or maybe baseball?
