1949 Series 1, new ones have certainly put the beef on.

We were in Thirsk (North Yorkshire) this afternoon, & passed Twisted Performance’
We stopped, & the lettering on the door states they have a cafe too (sadly closed)
We went in though, for a look

The V8 is a Chevrolet LS3! (430BHP ish)

There was a 110CSW, at £189,000….

Plus an electric conversion to a 90, that also has air suspension

I like this 110, at £110,000
(2.2 TDCi)

Defender 90
Down by the Foss
River Swale
Richmond (the real one!)
North Yorkshire

It’s not a ‘run of the mill’ 90
Note;
- the bumper along the rear cross-member, with extra lighting
- the 'receiver' in that bumper, for a detachable tow-hitch
- the offset spare-wheel carrier (normally fairly central, even with an after-market carrier)
- the badging where it’d normally state ‘Tdi’, or ‘Td5’

I believe it’s an imported South African model, as a petrol (BuMW) straight-6 was the standard engine
I also seem to recall that the tyre on the spare was a standard fitment too, General Grabber AT3
(I hope it’s not an original one, it’ll not be much good by now)

A tidy 110 in the Sports Arena car-park

The fuel filler is on the wrong side, as usually the battery is under the passenger seat?
(relocated battery & a back-up tank?)

Note the amended 'Tdi' to 'Td' decal
And, as for the hubcaps, the less said the better....
Although on close inspection, it does appear to be on BF Goodrich 'Trac-Edge', quite probably the best dual-purpose tyre made... ever!

Last of the 110's before it became Defender.

Is it not a transit engine?
It is based upon it, with differences for the angles taken in use (particularly with regard to oil flow/remapped for where the torque comes in/wading capabilities/etc
It's a taller engine than the Td5 it replaced, hence the 'bonnet bulge'

My "Nope!" reaction was primarily concerning the surprise at the price
