I slid on ice years ago (before wearing a helmet) and split my head open which I'm sure you'll agree isn't nice.

I slid on ice again a few years back and landed on my helmet, got up shook my self off and continued on to work none the worse.

So, accidents happen and it's a lot better not ending up in A+E if possible.
In over 20 years I've ended up in A&E once. No I wasn't wearing a helmet and no it wouldn't have helped. You're raising worthless arguments that have already been debunked countless times on this thread.

I tend to break my ribs when I come off a bike, should I wear body armour all the time or carry on doing what I do which is learn from each experience so I don't break my ribs the same way twice

I've had near identical accidents twice, one ended up me being covered in my own blood and the other did not so my choice to wear a helmet on that day was a good one.

You've got the wrong end of the stick with speeds, an impact with a car at any significant speed is going to end badly helmet or not.

An impact with the road, I would PREFER to have a helmet between me and it.

Why is it so annoying that people choose to wear helmets?.

So why haven't you fitted ice tyres yet? The helmet protects your head but there's all the rest of your body - and what about the bike? ;)

Comparing to tripping over while walking isn't comparing apples to apples, you don't walk around at 20mph?
You don't fall from a bike at 20mph either...

Could say that for both sides to be fair..

I came on the board to reply to a post on a Gtech eBike (which I have one myself).

Posted a comment on a thread about flies in helmets, shared my experience of a lad hitting a rear car window head on at speed and getting up (eventually) and then got moved to this debate presumably by the moderators?.

All a bit strange?, I choose to wear a helmet and to be honest dont give a rats ass what other people do..

Well Im a helmet wearer and having read some but not all of this thread will remain so. I don't notice it when its on and feel better wearing it so thats good enough for me.

Ive never given anyone scorn and abuse for not wearing one and I never will. Same as I don't expect to receive any scorn or abuse for my choice to wear one.

I really can't see what anyones problem is with the choice of someone else, the choice of others doesnt affect me, the same as my choice doesn't affect anyone else. Wear one or don't. Its up to you!

Never said you shouldn't. All I've asked is the reasoning behind it: are you following false evidence or just doing something that is illogical because you want to?

It's not illogical, I have proven in the real world you are less likely to split your head open if you wear one ;-).
