Peer pressure now there is a sore point, my kids are made to wear helmets for obvious reasons and when I do leisure rides with the family nearly all the other kids and their mums are wearing helmets but the fathers aren't.

What's that all about ?
It's an interesting point.
Of the 3.5 cyclists in the FF house only Mrs FF wears a helmet. My 16 y/o lad doesn't nor does my occasional cycling 23 y/o daughter.
I wore one from the very first hard shell versions in the early 80s until about 3 or 4 years ago when I saw the light .....
The rest it's their choice.

So, why the mum's and not the dads?
Maybe 'cos dad rode when a lad without a helmet, maybe it's a machismo thing, maybe because it looks a bit 'gay'. Mothers I can understand, it's about protection and doing the right thing/setting an example to the kids. Maybe Mums feel more peer pressure?

No it's not. The OP wants a helmet that is hi-viz . People are respectfully helping without pointing out that in their current forms both are unproven as safety devices.

Because I'm a masochist, let's do this again. I used to work in vaccines, if I asked GSK how effective their MMR vaccine is at preventing those diseases they would send me reams of peer reviewed data to tell me exactly how effective it is. They'd also tell me about known side effects and exceptions to their data.

If I ask Kask how effective their helmets are in a crash from 25mph they'll point out how light it is and how cool my head will be with all those vents. Why is that?

hmm hence the 100% take up of the female club members helmet wearing was interesting. The gay look I'm not so sure about.

I am somewhat interested in how you were able to return the damaged helmet to Giro @CaadX. When I had a collision, ironically on a CAADX, which resulted in damage to my Giro Savant helmet I was simply asked to complete an online form and submit a photo of said helmet to the UK importers who contacted me later to ask for payment, at a significantly reduced cost, cost a like for like replacement.

There was never any request to return the helmet or provide anything other than the single photo I supplied of compression and hairline fracture to one section.

Where did you take the helmet to ? What did you ask for.

I took mine to the supplier explained who I was a phone call was made and the helmet excepted for examination. Of course I may get the same result as you but we can hope.

Have you still got the photo by any chance ?

I think you need to have some dinner and a shower when you come home from work, because we are on totally different wavelengths if not topics.
Ok I'll make it really easy for you :why don't helmet manufacturers publish peer reviewed data detailing how effective their products are in real world scenarios?

I can try to get it down to monosyllabic words if you feel that will help.

I purchased mine online and following the collision Googled 'crash replacement Giro' which gave me a hit for the importer s followed their procedure. If I had had the opportunity to return said helmet I would have been nore than happy to do so if the t would as least add some data point for future research on the subject.
