This bridge abutment, is one of the remains of a branch-line to Don Pedro Colliery (slightly amended name from 'Dom', after the Emperor of Brazil, he visited in the 1870s)
The opposing one is long-gone

It's the north-south line; https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=16.4&lat=53.68881&lon=-1.39827&layers=168&b=1&o=100

I always found the Dom/Don Pedro visit story fascinating.

I have this book
There’s nothing much in it about the visit, other than the date
The author was a lifelong friend of my wifes (paternal) grandfather

29/31 CornMarket
Pontefract

The chimney caught my eye, I usually walk along that pavement, so don't see the rooflines

Interesting that you point out the roofline. The steep pitch is similar to 3-9 Cornmarket which hides a much older timber framed building behind its Georgian brick facade. This one isn't listed, probably because no one has had an opportunity to poke around inside and check.

It's fantastic to see it restored (again) to its former glory. Lets hope that its new owner/tenant treats it better than the ones that drove Malcolm to distraction.

Bruce Smeaton Memorial
Blenheim Way
Cutsyke
Castleford

I'm sure it was initially positioned along the (eponymously named) Bruce Smeaton Way, I could be wrong

The local ferals have given the leaves a kicking, as paint is missing

The memorial & pond are approximately at the end of the line of trees; https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5126199
Bruce Smeaton Way runs parallel to the M62, with a roundabout in 'the shadow of the bridge', to the north side of it, ending near to 'Xscape'

Yes I did notice the disparity between the roof-pitch & the facade
