Anderson not fit and will miss last test

After Australia only just saved the follow on against Northants in a rain reduced morale boosting 3 day match at the weekend it will be interesting to see the Aussie line up - Mitchell Marsh had a decent game 4-56 and 68 but Smith 0 and Warner 6 were not impressive - Aussies 73 for 5 at one point replying to Northants 396 in 90ish overs (The Northants "Aussie" - Crook 142 and 3 for 56) - The Aussie second XI bowlers Siddle and Cummings were not impressive

Lyth and Bell playing for their careers, Buttler playing for his place.

Australia playing for whatever scrap of respect they can find, and England hoping that a 4-1 series win will neutralise the 5-0 drubbiing in Australia two winters ago.

Hopefully the Oval track will have a bit in it for both batsmen and bowlers, but I suspect that it'll be a belter of a shirt front. Important toss to win, even though it's a 'dead' rubber.

True but there is a 50/50 chance that either side will win the toss. If the Aussies have got bowlers who can exploit the conditions, fine. But they shouldn't whinge if it goes against them.

Does the England set-up complain about the lightening fast wickets in Australia?

If you've got the bowlers, then you've got a chance.

If the Aussies have got bowlers who can exploit the conditions,

Both Starc and Johnson have the pace and ability to exploit English conditions - so far they have not shown their ability - been obsessed with Johnson in short bursts - Starc shown what he could do in patches

(Watching Saffers versus Kiwis at the moment - without McCullum (rested) and Taylor (Injured) they seem to have abandoned the "New World" thing)

(Lots of catches going down by both sides - 2 in Steyns first over - though got Ronchi with last ball)

I assume that the Aussies won't be preparing fast, bouncy pitches for our next visit...

Seriously, if they can't cope with a turning or swinging ball, then they don't deserve to win.
