Yes
@13 rider I know there aren’t actually any written rules preventing double-counting rides across more than one challenge. Two or three years ago, I tried to get the Lunacy Distance rules changed to stop it happening but I wasn’t successful. I won’t say any more about what was said back then as I’d probably end up breaching the forum rules.
One other thing I’d like to add to avoid any confusion ... I’ve already done 13 rides over 86km this year in the 2024 Lunacy Distance challenge. So any more rides that I do in the remainder of this year that fall between 50km and 85km will be posted here in the HMCAM challenge instead.
I’d also like to make the point that Lunacy Distance challenge rides – and Eddington Number calculations – are based on total distance over the entirety of a day. I find this is much more suited to my daily cycling these days .. I’ve often found that I’ve done 30/40km before coming home for lunch – then going out and doing a similar distance in the afternoon/early evening.
I’m curious to know if there’s any appetite for a rule change to allow these split rides to qualify for the HMCAM challenge? If these
were allowed, I’d definitely stay in this challenge until I become too old to get on my bike.
Or .. as a wild conjecture – is there any appetite for a new challenge where this is allowed (perhaps only open to those over 70 years old)?
