Kia Soul closeish?

I do have my eye on that one - currently the Yeti is just dog duties and if I can make it last I really fancy the EV3 second hand - but I need to get the Yeti through another couple of MOTs for that. Fingers crossed.

If not - the Soul does look pretty good.

Nothing as it’s a lease, but the deprecation would be far more. My six year old used BMW lost more than that over 2 years plus I had over £2000 in garage bills and annoying things going wrong. For fixed costs and peace of mind IMO leasing is the way to go.

Almost ten grand to hire a car for two years ? Not for me - but I'm glad people do it cos then I can pick it up at two years old and grab a bargain.

Same for Mrs D. She's saving £350-£400 a month on fuel, and that alone is significantly more that the monthly lease.

Then she doesn't have to pay for maintenance, insurance, tax, etc. She's significantly better off.

Too many folk make the mistake of looking at the ticket pride alone, when it's a bjg-picture proposition.

But I’m saving around £350 a month in fuel and maintenance over 2 years will be minimal

Only works if you do a lot of miles I think (or someone else is paying for a company car). I barely do 100 miles each month and am only considering a new car as mine might have a serious engine issue (it's fine for now, intermittent misfire) (and I've had her for over 11 years and fancy a change!)

You still have to pay for charging though right? Or are you one of the lucky few who get free charging at work.

Mrs C does, which is part of her desire to get a new car, even though we only spend £50 a month on fuel now.

Home charger which is dirt cheap and public charging I charge back to the company

About 40 quid a month. We charge at home and I've set it up on an electric car tariff to charge at the cheapest periods, and the charger was free.

True - but we bought our EV so have the fuel savings that you would get and maintenance is a service each year for <£200.

Even if the car was worth nothing now (and it's not) then its cheaper for me to buy second hand now and I'm pretty confident that the car will do us at least another 4 years or more.
