I find it a bit funny, that you can't ride across the bridge. The width of the shared cyclists/pedestrian lane is 1,60m and the rules say it HAS to be at least 1,70m for a two-way, so they had no other option than banning cycling! Come on! If 2 cyclists really WANTED to pass one another, I think they could find a solution to the missing 10 cm??? :cursing:

Red arrow = Sallingsundbroen, black arrow = the Hvalpsund ferry crossing.
I thought you were going down the west coast, which means you would swing left to cross the Vilsund Bridge, the island of Mors and then the Sallingsund Bridge? I can't read/don't understand the cycle.travel plan. :smile:

@Duckman
Do we need to send a St. Bernard with a keg of brandy? I hope you're done with the snow and high winds. The newspaper said some areas set records.

@Randyberlin Got to dig mom out tomorrow, but looking good now at our place. Really hefty amounts of sodden snow. May have to miss groupvrace. But will try to get a TT time in if I can in the morning, and regroup Saturday. Dogs and brandy always welcome here no matter what heinous weather we get.

Low and behold. The government has given a dispensation to allow cycling on the bridge anyway. Cyclists just have to pay attention to one another… :laugh: After all it was 1,64m wide, so only 6 cm too narrow. :smile:

How high is the barrier?

Too high to see much when in a car, but low enough to see everything when in a bus/lorry or on a bike.😁 I would estimate about 1,2-1,5m, but in a car you are 15cm lower because of the level difference to the bike/moped/pedestrian part. In a modern SUV you probably are able to see at least something. They tried a few see through sections back in 2019 (as seen in the image below), but ultimately went back to solid metal barriers. :sad:
