It looks like I was the only one to honor Bill's request for a 5 minute head start before putting in real effort.
Really I have no idea why I was so slow. Slower than yesterday riding solo. But I guess the only difference is today I had some names in the top right corner of the screen taunting me.

Yeah, the rest of them had no consideration for my weakened state whatsoever. It's almost like they were looking to take advantage of a rider who they knew had already suffered a hard days riding:cycle:

Your ghost flew by me on the second big hill. You may have made a mistake with your new bike. Check and make sure there isn't a motor on it.
 turns out I like steep hills!

It's an old bike I has which I'll be using as the bkool workhorse from now on. A Commencal Colt. Pretty sure motors weren't a standard item on them

I just looked on the google. That's a nice bike. I like that geometry. I bought a new standard crank and am going to replace the compact 50/34 I have now.

I'm kinda on a different agenda atm. I will try and fit them in, but desparately trying to build cadence and seated power. In a fairly small window of opportunity.
Yeah, me too. Long climbs doesn't fit into my TT plans. A shorter power burst like Col de Telegraph, though, is more suited. Feeling tempted to adjust my weight too, since I'm actually 2 kg lighter than my Bkool profile (and will no doubt be further 1 kg lighter at TT race day next month).

Geoff, next weeks velodrome session - is it just a normal session, start @ 7 and complete 39.8 miles as a group ?

Nope, it's a 7pm start as usual but as it will be a Velodrome session, which don't seem to work in the Leagues, it will not actually be a league session.

I'll just start a password protected Velodrome session for 50 laps (12.5 km) and everyone joins in. Probably take only 15-20 minutes, that's usually long enough to knacker everyone out.

Then as the time won't save in the league, I set up a dummy league session for everyone to just save an incomplete session of a minute or so, which will allow me to adjust the times to match everyone's Velodrome times.

If you want to do the session other than Thursday 7pm or Saturday 5pm, just complete a 50 lap Velodrome session and save the incomplete dummy session before the stage closes. Let me know your time.and I'll do the adjustment.

Can we put the feelers out for setting up an hour session as a velodrome session, might make tactics come into play a bit rather than just 15-20 minutes flat out... Make everyone do a turn on the front and could throw some sprints & intervals.

I'd be willing to give it a try, but I find the Velodrome gets tedious (and exhausting) after a while and an hour going round and round might be hard to maintain. Can't be any harder than one of BIll's mountains though!

Getting lapped so many times can be embarrassing!

I have tried to setup long flattish stages to encourage a bunch to work together to keep the fast boys in sight, but it never worked out, everyone just nails it from the start and we end up spread all over the stage in ones and twos.

That was why I was wondering about setting up teams, meaning we had to work together to get the fastest overall time.. Bkool don't seem to have implemented Teams yet, but we could just do it unofficially. I was thinking something like a team of 4 or 5, and time the third person home in each team? So the fastest team members would tend to take the front and draft the third, fourth and fifth guys as fast as they could.

We did once briefly end up in a bunch of 4 and the draft at the back was fantastic, but then a hill broke up the party.

OK, how about something like this?

We need a fairly flat course so speeds are high enough that drafting is significant.

We take existing league results for that course and divide into "x" teams of say 5 people, by matching the fastest "x" with the second fastest "x" (in reverse order) then the third fastest "x", then the fourth fastest "x" (in reverse order), etc. to balance out the teams.

Then each team arranges a time to run their TT (as many times as they like) and the team leader starts their own group league session (password protected to avoid unwanted interference) and the rest of the team join and they set and save their fastest times.

We then compare the times of the third fastest person in each team and announce the winning team! :wahhey:
