DP is a heavyweight like me, he will need easier gearing than 50/34 if he wants to spin up hills
Unfortunately I've just seen that the rear mech is a short cage so that pretty much rules out smaller gear ratios and I'm not feeling inclined to undertake too many component changes until next year. I'll just have to lose weight and power up instead :sad:

This is it boys!! CycleChat vs the Pyrenees!

I just want it noted that I’m sat right at the front of the plane on my own. So if we do crash into the sea, I crossed the line first... ^_^ :rolleyes:

@Daddy Pig Something like this

https://www.sigmasports.com/item/Wo...VC7DtCh20YgVNEAQYASABEgJonPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Expensive. But easy to install and setup, I did it so it must be.

Or this

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mountain...YiOjMsInNvIjoxNTAwLCJjIjoxNzc4MTN9&rmvSB=true

Not sure of the quality.

Short cage install

Sadly it states it only works with medium cage mech so no go! I think the issue with short cage is that the mech can only go so far before it's stretching too much, and the 11 28 is at its limit already! Thanks anyway :okay:

Edit. Although the guy in the video reckons it can be used on short cage! :wacko:

Went out IRW tonight for a spin on the Single Speed. Nearly two hours with an average speed of 15mph and 580 metres of climbing. Safe to say it's not very flat around here! Anyway, for those who have Strava have a look at my ride and see where I had a major 'oh shoot' moment and why I should really stay in the virtual world. Clue it happened at 14.3km :banghead:

I give up. You went out on a car-only road?

Kind of. The A303 whilst not car only, is pretty much a motorway for speed and vehicle types so not really a place to cycle. Lorries hurtling past at 60 mph just a few feet away, and cars doing 70+. I was having to ride in the gutter, over the rumble strip to stay out of trouble. It was not my best move taking that wrong turning! On a plus note though, the road surface was silky smooth :tongue:
