Sounds like fun!

What is the technique for starts. I end up watching people ride off as i wait for me to set off.
As the count down hits 0, blink and go like a bat out of hell. If you get it wrong it tells you to stop, the margins are small.

I think the graphics are a bit weird at the starts, I know I have started a second or so late and others have been way ahead but then I zoom past them. It settles down after a few seconds though.

Does anyone know if you can start a route part way through, I uploaded the Fred Whitton Challenge however I want to do it in segments and not start from the beginning each time. Thanks, Chris

I'm beginning to believe that you actually need two different tyres because one type is good for going up steep hills and another for the flatter rides. It seems to make a lot of difference. For going up hills you really need to be able to get out of the saddle at speeds below 10mph. On the tyre I used today it would just spin on the roller. Todays tyre was a low friction high power tyre ideal for the a flat ride like Simcoe. Had I had on my trainer tyre that has no slip at all on the up-hills, the result would have probably been very different.
Also tyre pressures. When I've had punctures on the trainer and believe it or not, I've had quite a few, it gets very hard to pedal well before you feel the bump bump and realise you have a flat. Tonight I was running at 130psi as its far more important than out on the street due to the contact patch being much smaller. So need to run very high pressures to avoid excess friction.
Adam. I think your sticky up-hill tyre is no use for the fast flat rides.

I was running late and didn't get a chance to top up the tyre so suspect it's at about 100 psi, or a bit less, rather than the 120 it should be. I might try the ride again with a bit more air in the tyre.

That's interesting Bill. I wasmusing pretty worn 25mm rubino pros last night and could not get out of the saddle because they just kept slipping. Tonight I was using 32mm randoners at about 85psi for grip and no problems standing, in fact really helpful to get out of the saddle and work through soreness. Mind you I am sure 32 mm tyres at such a low psi are not optimum for turbotraining where resistance is reasonably smooth compare to most roads and where efficiency may be compromised by too large and soft a contact area.

Hi I'm Chris, new to the site, been using my BKool for a month or two now - liking it although sometimes get a loud noise from the trainer on some descents - BKool helpdesk said to remove the fan cover and they would send me a new one - seems to have made it better but not perfect - anyone else experienced similar? Anyway, will join some of the groups on BKool. Cheers

One thing to remember Bob is that tyres will only slip at low speed and in low gears. So on Simco there would be no slippage no matter what tyre you have. For that reason you would ideally use the lowest friction one possible. I'm thinking the narrower the better for low friction.

I wish it were so.... In preparation for this particular battle, I too swapped out tyres. I put a brand new road tyre on, pumped up to 120psi. It's the legs and butt that needed swapping out, not my wheels.
I dread to think how I would have faired with my Bubblegum Goat Tyres on. Would have been like pulling on a bungee hooked to the start gate!

Well the past two nights on Dhuez I could only make around 230 watts. My legs still hurt from Fauniera. Only just properly recovered by today.
Your fluctuating watts on Fauniera looked similar what I used to hget before I scrapped my bubblegum tyre.

Mmm, I didn't look at the power really tbh, with this new tyre. I wonder if it was a bit more consistent? It's a good point. I've only been cycling for one season, and as soon as I got the BKool I fell in with the hill climbing crowd...i.e. You lol! And that's all I've really done. My limited real life biking has always been VERY hilly, ?I live in Wales, hills are kind of a geographical certainty.
If I focus on my flat work for a few months, it should improve substantially, just need to get off my lazy ass and do it.
