@Rayvon - another great battle Rayvon - we gotta stop meeting like this!

Excellent race all round

Well that shook a few things up (apart from Bill winning and Kipster giving him a hard time, of course), good to have a different kind of course.

Thanks to everyone who took part. :bravo:

Well done Monte, I thought I had you towards the end, but having caught you I just didn't have enough to get past. :heat:

I'm always dropped at the start, no matter how soon I pedal and how hard I push. I was straight up to 400+ watts and still Bill, Kipster and Monte were gone, so I lost any chance of a draft. I'd love to know how you guys get going so fast. :secret:

Looking at the Watts and the Watts/Kg is an interesting contrast to the goats sessions. Kipsters leading the Watts and I managed to average just over 4 Watts/Kg. There would definitely have been fitness upgrades if it had been 30 minutes long.

I knew he would have me on that last bump, just couldn't get any gap on him.
Thanks for the race Kip. It was good that you caught up so we could battle it out.:boxing: Unfortunately the hill at the end gave me an unfair advantage.

Adam, good news and bad news for next week ...

Good news, there's a short climb up cheddar gorge

Bad news, it's preceeded by a velodrome session (only 40 laps though).

You guys left me for dead! Even Bob, started late, toyed with me for a few minutes then put the power down when he got bored. Definately my Achilles heel, the flat and downhill stuff...work to do there.
Might have to do one of those in the handicap league!

Poor Adam. I knew 2 days wasn't nearly enough rest after Fauniera. It took me 4 days to recover.
Can't blame Fauniera really, my legs felt reasonably good. Just makes me want to push harder. Spare evenings will have to be spent repeating this run I think.
See if I can build up some of the right stuff! Well played you guys out front mind you, and Bob.
Felt like a mouse being patted about by a cat, then when you'd had enough, you just took off like an F16!

That was some start from Kip and Monte. Had me working really hard to catch up. Great technique guys. Top gear and nail it I assume.

It was a good little battle. I tried to get a few seconds on you but you managed me very well, I could see the bump ahead and thought 'game over'.

I licked my wounds by joining Monte for a cool down velodrome session where we practiced drafting for a bit.

That's the one, I thought Monte was going to cook me but I guess he run out of puff before me? I had a good battle with Monte, I'd pull away on the flat and descents, he'd catch up with me on the bumps, then he dropped back a bit more so I set about closing the gap to Bill only for him to blast away from me with 400m to go. Who thought a turbo could be so much fun and so strategic ;)

Ha! I was so worried about you coming back at me I had no alternative but to push on. My legs were sore from last nights run but they actually hurt less the more power I applied. Or I didn't notice. I am happy to give this run another go when you can too. It would be nice to build up power and stamina to hopefully get nearer Bill and Geoff and Kip.

I'd be more than happy to accompany you, but you have demonstrated quite clearly that you are way faster than me on this terrain.
Drop a message in here if you decide to go back there, and I 'll do the same.

Great race, I pushed right from the off and tried to stay with bill & Kipster but just couldn't keep the speed up, started to run out of puff and I could see Geoff reeling me in, so decided to save my legs a bit with the idea of draughting to the end. That sort of terrain suited me I guess tonight...

Thanks to Kipster for the through & off in the velodrome, I had to go and help out with the kids which was a shame as I was getting into that.
